The Four Rings: The Fire Within

The Quest Begins

They all sat shocked at what Mary had told them. She had just told them what had happened.

"So your telling me that his Highness has hidden the ring in the four most dangerous places that he could think of!" Elijah shouted at Mary anger boiling up in him like nothing before.

"Elijah calm down it's not her fault." John said in a reasuring voice. John had decided that if this quest was going to go ahead the group would need to stick together.

"But still why send us on this trip? Why not send some one from the royal family? From what I hear their the only ones that can wield the rings power." Elijah started debating.

"I know why we were sent on this mission if what Elijah said is true." Now Jude had everyones attention, she had been trying to speak up for ages. "Dad took me to see grandpa quite often," She finished.

"But all our grandparents Died before you were born!" Mary half-shouted. She started crying.

"They were Mums parents and dads 'adopted parents'." She said and before Mary asked the question. "Dads real parents decided to give him to someone else and for a good reason, to protect him and his children. People had made assasination attempts on his family for hundreds of years to try and stop people from using the rings against them." They all looked at her confusion spread on their faces. "In other words the king wanted to protect his son." This was the silence breaker.

"Why didn't dad tell me this!" Mary Shouted shock clearly showing on her face.

"Because he didn't want you to know until the time was right," She said scared by the fact that Mary was now yelling at her. They had been sisters for ten years and she had always treated her extremely nicely, but now she was screaming at her.

"Mary so what your a part of the royal family, that doesn't make you any different to who you are now." John said trying to calm her down. "We should get some sleep," He told them.

"Fine I guess your right," Mary said half sobbing feeling like she had been cheated out of knowing who she really was.

The next day they were given brief instructions on how to get the first ring. They were to go to the underworld and take it from the demon king. They had to use a special ritual that was known only by the king to create a portal from which they would be able to travel back and forth for the period of one week.

They would have to infiltrate the demon kings castle and go and steal the ring from them. All this would have to be done in the space of one week or they would be trapped. Then they would come back to the kingdoms castle and they would get the instructions to get the next ring. They would set out For the ring the next morning but for now they would prepare for their journey.
