XIII. Meet My Mom

Lavelle's view

We finally get to my parent's home and park in the drive way. Raquel and I get out, but before walking to the door, I hesitate a little.

Raquel turns to me and reassures me by saying "It's gonna be okay." She grabs my chin to lift my head so that she can give me a quick kiss. Then we walk forward together and meet my brother at the door as he knocks.

Not even a second passes before my mom opens the door with the biggest smile on her face. She immediately grabs my brother and squeezes him in a hug. Max yelps out in suprise and pain, and then my mom grabs me and pulls me into the hug.

My mom stops hugging us  and her smile flaters as she focuses in on Raquel. "Oh hello hija, di ko alam magsasama pala mga anak ko ng kaibigan, but the more the merrier ,"

Raquel extends her hand for my mom to shake and says, "Hello po tita , ako po si Raquel,"

"Nice meeting you Raquel, hali na kayo pumasok na tayo," my mom says pushing us into the house.

My dad pops around the corner and he comes over to give Max and me a hug. He notice Raquel and says hello, "Kaibigan ka ni Lavelle?"

"Hindi po, actually she's my..." I get cuts off by the door bell riging.

"Sino pa ininvite mo ma?" Max asks.

"Ah anak ng kaibigan ko. He is about to make ligaw to your ate," my mom explains running to get to the door.

"What!" I blurt out. I turn to look at my dad, "Pa! Alam mong gagawin nya to?!"

"Hindi, wala akong alam dyan," my dad replies putting his hands up in defense.

"Oh shit," Max adds.

"Did your mom just set you up on a date?" Asks Raquel.

Before I can answer her my mom comes back with a guy. I'll admit he has nice features, he looks somewhat handsome, but I'm Bisexual. I like girls. Most importanly I like Raquel.

"Si Kevin nga pala" my mom introduces him to us. "Kevin eto pala ang pamilya ko. Ang asawa ko, and bunso kong anak si max and most importantly si Lavelle yung panganay. At sya nga pala yung kaibigan ni lavelle, si Raquel,"

"Ma, si Raquel ay di ko lang friend, girlfriend ko sya, Girlfriend!" I reply steaming with anger.

"Yun nga ang sabi ko. Sya ay kaibigan mo. Di na kailangan i-include ang kanyang gender, ang corny nyan Lavelle," my mom replies.

"NO! Ibig kong sabihin we're together!" I try to explain.

"Alam ko that you came together, duh," my mom says.

"Jusq po! Di po iyan ang ibig kong sabihin...," I stop because Raquel puts a hand on my shoulder. I glance at her and she gives me a look to let this go.

"Ngayon na andito na ang lahat, how about we set the table? Everyone sumunod na kayo sa kitchen para maiset-up na ang lamesa." My parents and Kevin leave the room.

"Di ito ang inaasahan ko," Max blurts out.

"Hindi to pwede," I reply rubbing my eyes and sighing from this mess.

"Okay. So bale di talaga aware yung mama mo sa pagiging bisexual mo," Raquel teases.

"No, alam nya. Di mo kasi naiintindihan. Di kasi agad marunong tumanggap si mama,wala na man syang sinasabi sa akin, pero lagi nya akong sini-set up ng date sa lalaki. Parang binabalewala nya lang yung pinapaliwanag ko tungkol sa kasarian ko," I explain.

"Maiintindihan ka rin nya, Lavelle. Bigyan mo pa ng konting panahon si mama," Max suggests.

"Max, eight years na since umamin ako sa kanya. Gaano oa ba katagal aantayin ko para matanggap na nya ako?"

"Baka kailangan nya lang makita na masaya ka kay Raquel para maintindihan ka nya" Max adds.

"Baka nga, wala pa naman ni isang ex-girlfriend ko na ipinakilala ko sa kanya eh,"

"Naks naman. So ako yung pinakaunang ipapakilala mo sa magulang mo?" Raquel ask and I nod, "Well shit, ngayon lang nag sisink in sakin ang pressure. I'm already doing such a marvelous first impression," Raquel says as she starts to pace around.

I immediately go to her side and hold her in place and force her to look at me. "Hey, wag kang mag-alala tungkol dyan. Sino naman may pake sa sasabihin ng iba, ikaw gusto kong kasama, ikaw ang mahal ko, at napapasaya mo ako,"

Raquel begins to smile and she puts me in for a kiss. I kiss her back and wrap my hands around my neck to pull me deeper into the kiss.

"Uhm, guys... ayokong sirain moment nyo,pero kailangan na nating pumunta ng kusina, or gusto nyo mainis pa si mama kakahintay satin," Max says before turning the corner.

Raquel breaks away from the kiss, but I pull her back in for another one. She smiles into it and slowly pulls away again, "kailangan nating makinig sa kapatid mo,"

"Gusto ko 'tong gawin higit sa lahat, pero need na nating pumunta dun love," she whispers.

I sigh and let go of her so that we can go into the kitchen, but Raquel suddenly grabs my arm and pulls me in for yet another kiss, "gusto ko lang gawin sa isang pagkakataon pa hehe," she replies in her super cute smile

"Well, masaya akong ginawa mo yun. At wag kang mag-alala, mahaba haba pa yan pag nakabalik tayo sa apartment marami tayong oras," I tease. She smirks at me and I intertwine our fingers and pull her behind me as I walk to the kitchen.

Like hell I'll not let my mom ruin this for Raquel and me. I might love this girl and I'm not  going to let her go. No matter what my mom says. I'm not going to break my promise to love her.
