Annalyn's pov:

My alarm goes off before the sun has begun to rise. I can hear the sound of light rain tapping on my window, the house is quiet. My mother was still sleeping. The quiet peaceful sound of the night still lingered. It is my first day back to school after summer. I light the candles in my room and dress in my new uniform. My hair was brushed then I gathered my things into my bag. I brought my books and my perfume. My favorite fragrance is "lemongrass", it smelt like rain, lemons, and roses.
I blew out my candle's then made my way out my room and down the stairs, to the kitchen. It was dark downstairs, and the curtains hadn't been opened yet. I had to run back up the stairs and into my room to get a candle. After grabbing the closest candle to my bedroom door and lighting it, I guided myself back downstairs with the dim light.
On the kitchen counter was the blueberry muffins. They were already packaged and ready for me to take them to my professors. I set my bag down on the floor beside the bottom step and set the candle down on the counter.
The dim flame reflected enough light on the cabinets for me to find some breakfast. I found a basket of bagels, there was a thin white cloth covering the bagels inside so that they wouldn't go stale. We have a homemade butter spread that I use, to put on my bagels. The ingredients are butter, garlic salt, pepper, minced basil, and a hint of sage.
The angelic fluffy bread, and the delicious seasoned butter dissolved on my tongue as I listened to the light rain outside. I watched the flame on my candle dance while the wax slowly melted away and dripped down into the wax tray.
I was halfway done eating my bagel when I heard the sound of a quiet tiptoe behind me, It was my mother. "Good morning darlin" she greated me with a whisper. "Oh, good morning mother. You nearly frightened me." I laughed at myself as I spoke. "Aren't you leaving soon Anna?" with a confused look on her face. "Yes, I'm just waiting for Anius to arrive, then I shall be on my way." She nodded her head and assured me "make sure to wear you hat and an extra coat, for the rain will be cold at this time of morning." After reminding me, I grabbed my black, knitted beanie out of my bag and secured it upon my head.
All of a sudden I heard a light tap on the kitchen window above the sink, different from the sound of raindrops hitting the window. "That must be Anius. Time for me to leave now mother." I walked around the kitchen counter, opened the dark red curtains, and opened the window, allowing Anius inside.
Anius landed on the countertop then me and my mother said our goodbye's. I grabbed my bag and the blueberry muffins off the counter, then Anius flew in front of me to the front door. I followed close behind, then took my broomstick out of the small compartment closet near the front door, waved to my mother one last time, and exited with Anius now perched on my shoulder.
I chanted a spell out loud that would give my broomstick the power to lift off, "livonk!" My broomstick immediately levitated before me, I hopped on and Anius perched behind me, on the end of the stick. We flew upwards, I could feel the cold clouds flow over my shoulders as we flew through the fog. It was so peaceful, below me I could see the black ocean waves swaying and the grass blowing in the wind. I could feel rain drops slowly seeping there way through my beanie. This is the most freeing feeling I had felt in forever. Amongst me, through the blur of the fog I could see the train station. I began to land slowly so that I would come to a steady stop. I land on the damp grass in front of the train station and chant the words "kawvill" to freeze the levitation spell on my broomstick.
I hold my broom in my left hand while carrying the muffins in my right, and make my way into the station. My bag is secured on my back and Anius was following close behind me. To my right was the ticketing area, I grabbed two silver coins out of my pocket and payed for my ticket at stop 3 and train number 1757. After paying for my ticket, I took a seat on a bench at stop 3, and waited for my train to arrive.
After a few minutes, train number 1757 finally arrived. I gathered my things and Anius perched himself on my shoulder. Entering the train I could hear groups of girls conversating and giggling. I found a seat next to a read-haired girl I had never seen before. Her hair was in a low and loose bun, and her eyes glowed a gorgeous emerald green. Anius perched himself on the top of my seat, above my head. Aside me, the read-haired girl had a brown cat asleep in her lap. She looked above my head and said "wow, your bird is so handsome, do you mind if I ask him his name?" I wasn't sure what she meant be that but it didn't seem like a problem to me. "Thank you, and uh sure go ahead." She nodded her head and looked back up at Anius, making direct eye contact with him. All of a sudden she began a whole conversation with him, almost as if she understood everything he was saying. Anius was quietly cooing, squacking, and nodding at the peculiar girl as she spoke to him. "What's your name, you handsome fella?, Anius!? oh I love that name, and what's your favorite color, green is a lovely color, You like the ocean? me too." It was like the entire time I was getting to know the both of them so well. We actually had a lot of things in common, So I decided to make conversation with her. "Hey, how can you understand him?" I asked her in a curious but respectful manner. "Oh haha, I thought you knew. I have the ability to communicate with and understand animals." I was surprised she didn't seem bothered by my question at all. "That's amazing! I can't believe I've never learned about that capability. What's your cat's name?" I was truly surprised, I had never met someone with her gift before. "Her name is Akaterina, and thank you. The gift was passed down from my great grandmother. It's very rare." She seemed different from the other girls at school. She was Kind, caring, and selfless. "Well I like it! you're different and I need more different people in my life. Do you mind if I ask for your name?" She smiled and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear "Well thank you! You're much kinder than all the other young ladies I've met. My name's Etana. What's yours?" Her voice was kind and her smile looked filled with excitement. "I'm Annalyn. It's a pleasure to meet you Etana." she shifted her hand towards me and gestured for a handshake. We shook hands while she gave me a big smile and said "The pleasures mine."
The train came to a stop and for the first time ever, I had a friend to walk off the train and into the school with.
