"Callum, Angelica, Daniel, Cage, and last but not least... Myself." Kai said as he pointed to each who stood around the entrance of the wolves den. He stood from the entrance in the ground and wiped his hands on his britches.
Cage rolled his eyes tiredly at his brother, his arms crossed defensively over his chest. Angelica smiled at Cage's frustration and both Callum and him shot her a warning glance. She quickly stopped her amused giggling.
"You got a map?" Cage asked, and Kai pulled a folded piece of parchment from his pocket. Kai was prepared for any question his brother could possibly ask. He was prepared for anything.
Or at least, he thought he was."You're gonna need it." Cage mumbled under is breath.
"I heard that." Kai breathed as he started walking south, the map of surrounding landmarks in his hands. Everyone followed behind him, Cage walked at the back of the group.
"You're holding it upside down." Cage smirked.
"No I'm not... You moody, idiotic-" Cage cut Kai off before he could continue.
"You forgot stubborn."
"Trust me, there are a lot of other tendencies you have on the list besides moody, idiotic and stubborn." Kai continued to study the map in his hands.
"You forgot charming, witty, and easy on the eyes... Or eye. I suppose it depends on how you see me." Cage's play on words had Daniel and Callum slumped over in laughter.
"You're not witty, you're a smart aleck."
Kai was never this honest when speaking to his brother. Cage found it surprising that he decided to pick this moment to speak his mind."Will you two just-"
Daniel cut in just before noticing Cage lift his hand towards his face, rubbing his right temple with his fingers to focus.Cage stopped walking, a thought in his head kept him from staying in the moment. He felt... To be honest, he didn't understand how he felt. Nervous, worried, impulsive. Something was wrong, he could feel it. Clara was in trouble.
Cage could hear a scream of distress that wasn't there, followed by the shrill of pain. Then, there was something else. Someone.
"Are you alright Cage?" Kai asked and quickly rushed to his brothers slide, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"I-" Cage glanced up at his brother, searching for some answer to what he was experiencing. Imagining things that weren't there wasn't normal.
A sudden shock ran through Cage's body, the image of a forest clearing flashed in his mind. His eyes widened and he turned away from his brother, suddenly bolting into the forest on two legs.
~~~
"Where are we going Cage?!" Angelica called loudly as she dodged the high trees. Kai, Callum and Daniel all ran close behind their Alpha. Confusion was evident in their serious expressions.
Cage didn't respond when Angelica called after him. Neither did he when his brother called after him as well-
"We aren't supposed to be deviating from the plan Cage!"."Who put this guy in charge again?!"
Callum questioned and laughed as he tried his best to keep up, almost dropping his satchel."Stop yelling and focus!" Daniel called last, just as Cage made a sharp turn, losing his balance before regaining it.
As Cage and his confused companions
neared the forest clearing, they realized why their alpha had brought them to where they were.Cage searched the clearing for the one person he cared about. When his eyes found her's, he couldn't help feel a slight bit of relief. She was safe.. Sort of.
Glancing over, the sight of his girl's hand laced into a man's hand who Cage didn't know, caused his blood to boil. A ping of jealously arose in him as he charged through the forest, towards Clara. The rest of the pack caught sight of the vampires and went to town.
Cage swooped in and gripped the man who stood at Clara's side by the throat, lifting him up slightly. The man gripped onto Cage's wrist and stared at him through his black orbs.
"Cage stop!" Clara punched Cage's arm forcefully, earning his attention.
"Dani, he's a vampire." Cage refused to let go.
"He won't hurt us! He protected me." Clara protested and Cage dropped the man, he gasped for air and stepped back, his eyes never left the girl who the crazed man in front of him listened to before releasing him.
The man who Cage had dropped stalked forward after a moment, clear anger in his movement.
The small girl by his side grabbed his arm, pulled him back and sent a warning glare his way. "It's okay Orion. I know him."
