Fontaine of Lemuria

Chapter Two: Grandpa of Mystery

A/N Hi Everybody! Usually I won't update this fast but I was too excited ;)

Everything was moving too fast for Fontaine. She was bleary from sleep, and had suddenly awoken to her mum screaming, which alarmed her.

She sat up straight, and saw a figure standing over her, she couldn't tell if it was a man or woman. They were dressed all in black, topping it off with a black ski mask just like old fashioned burglars.

At that moment Kaiko stopped screaming and her mom's green eyes were filled with rage. She leapt on the assailant, fortunately able to knock some kind of weapon, Fontaine couldn't tell what it was, out of their hand. Fontaine could barely tell what was going on, and before she knew it the assailant was sprinting away.

The assailant then broke into a sprint for the Moon Pool Room. Fontaine almost chased after them, but she saw Will running down the hall, so she left it alone. Only a few seconds later, Will returned to Fontaine's room. "Kaiko! What happened? Are you ok?" "I'm fine Will, just bruises." "And a bloody nose that is about to get all over my carpet" Fontaine replied as she came back from the bathroom she shared with Ant with a box of tissues. "Thanks Fontaine" replied her mom. "Hello Nektons!" Nereus came into the room and sat at Fontaine's desk. Fontaine still couldn't get over the Nereus's shirt with their symbol, and weird blue suspenders to match. Will almost made him a wetsuit, but Nereus convinced him to opt for a shirt and pants instead since he would likely stay on the Arronax. "Great! It's just everybody come to Fontaine's room at four am!!" Fontaine cried. "Even the fish is here!!" Fontaine pointed to Jeffrey, who was hanging around by the small tube in her room. She had no idea why Jeffrey's tubes stretched into her room and her parents room. It was weird! At least they didn't go into her bathroom... "Weird that he's here without Ant" piped Kaiko. "That boy could sleep through anything," said Will, chuckling. Jeffrey disappeared for a minute, and returned with Ant. "Hey guys, Jeffrey called me, is there some secret super early meeting in Fontaine's room I didn't know about?" He joined Will on Fontaine's bed. He glanced at Kaiko. "Woah, what happened to you?" "I think it's time we talk about the elephant in the room," said Will. "Fontaine, someone was in your room trying to attack you. They are obviously a good fighter, because very few can take on your mother." "Go Mom!" said Ant. "Let's just say he came out a lot worse than I did," Kaiko said.

Everyone chuckled except Nereus, who looked somehow guilty and thoughtful at the same time. "What are you hiding, old man" thought Fontaine.

"Fontaine, you have no idea who that was, you don't know them?" asked Kaiko. "No, I don't" Kaiko made a little hmmm noise, the same that Fontaine did when she was thinking. "You didn't recognize them Will?" asked Kaiko. "No, but if I did know who they were I don't know if I would have recognized them under the mask" "Yeah." agreed Fontaine. Kaiko made the thinkey noise again.

"No offense Fontaine, but why didn't they go for Ant?" Will asked, furrowing his brow. "That's what I've been asking myself" admitted Fontaine He's the Chosen One, why not him? "Ugh," she said, aloud "This is leaving us with more questions than answers"

"YES!!!!!!!!!!!!" screamed Ant. Fontaine could swear the walls rumbled, he was so loud. Everyone jumped. "We have a new mystery!" Fontaine groaned. But the word mystery jogged something in her memory. Mystery, Mr. Mysterious, Nereus.

"So Nereus" Fontaine voiced her thoughts, "Are you going to tell us what you're hiding?"

"Nereus frowned." "I knew it would happen eventually, but so soon, you're only 14..."

"Nereus." Kaiko chimed in, a warning tone in her voice. "Did you have anything to do with this?"

"No." Nereus shook his head. "It was an assassination attempt." "That person was likely from Mauritia"

"Nereus!" snapped Fontaine. We have no idea what you're talking about!

"Fontaine, this was an assassination. I'm sorry you are being thrust into this so soon, but you are going to be High Queen of Lemuria"

A/N DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNN! Sorry bout the cliff hanger, I'll update soon, but I am also starting a different story. Also, chapters further in will be longer, I just couldn't resist the cliff hanger here. (grins evily)
