Chapter 4 - The Awakening -
Charlotte POV
My bloody day started in the dark atmosphere teasingly and vividly painting my room, the darkness that I was afraid of really welcomed me with it's frightening emptiness. I looked around in the dimness of my surroundings as various mixtures of negative emotions built up inside me, suffocating me and wringing my neck making it hard to breathe.
I almost thought that a panic attack was invading me because my breathing was weird and heavy, I hugged myself tight, almost painfully, just to bring warmness to my body which was coated with cold blood.
BLOOD
I am never afraid of blood, actually it's pretty much the opposite. You might find it weird for a girl with a meek complexion like mine to love blood, yes you heard me right, I love it to it's bright tantalizing color, the Red fierceness and a taint of evil, God colored it with.
I love it's gooey but smooth texture when liquefied, the silk like complexion from dark to light where it really captivates me, I love it to the point that I have various of blood turned into crystals collected and stored in my vault room. They were neatly placed inside glass like shelves, shining with honor and glory from where it came from. Each and one of them, they were labeled by Obsidian stones carved with a hypnotizing kind of language I'm sure this world has never heard of.
And what I loved, it really feared me, I know those creatures they created from fiction books who loves blood, they drink it and it became their food or life force. I'm not sure if they were called Vampires but I think the creature's name sounded just like that. Human, I am a creature like that with normal bones and organs, I have fairly colored skin not pale, and I don't have Red eyes nor do I thirst for blood to be my food.
Thinking about those things made something churn in my stomach, the day I've woken up to was gratefully nearing it's awaited sunrise as my room bid the darkness goodbye. I shivered, like a sharp current pricking a million needles in my body.
I knew I've had another nightmare last night but this one's different, I could feel the surreal goodness and reality hovering over the empty atmosphere in the mansion. Haunted you may say, but no ghosts nor monsters could fear me, let alone to mention the pursuers of my death they call the UNDERGROUND.
Very ironical, I do not fear the UNDERGROUND, but towards the frightening creature they call my BUTLER, who came from the Underground World. I've never been there, but the unknown feeling that subsides me since the incident from the meeting; where I'm the only witness I guess, and probably Zero; won't stop bothering me every night in my sleep. Sometimes, I'll have crazy and out of the world hallucinations occurring whenever I discuss important information with my subjects; which later on after would be forgotten.
I dramatically sighed; though accompanied with so much depressing emotions; forcefully; almost painful; I removed the once soft and fluffy blankets from sticking above the half of my body as I dejectedly tried to stand up.
Wobbling, I shivered when I planted my bare feet on the unbelievably cold carpeted floor. Maybe the maids aren't doing their job according to Zero's perspective and were currently panicking with the everyday preparations; to the point of forgetting to heat the coal for the heater.
After estimating the steadiness of my body I think I could walk to the bathroom now, heading towards the far road to my bath, I wondered why Zero hadn't come to my room to wake me up; usually he'll just barge in earlier than the expected time to rise.
I know I was dragging my freezing feet onto the carpet but the worthwhile moment was when I happily reached the bathroom without tripping. Entering, a current of shivers ran through the course of my body up and down as the cold wall tiles and floor welcomed my already frozen state; the small hairs on my body all stood alarmingly as the cold entered and exited my skin continuously.
