Logan
I sighed inwardly as my gaze fluttered to the young woman in front of me gushing out about her job as a dancer.
For crying out loud,we were on a date not a job review.
"Anna."I called and she immediately stopped her chattering.
"Oh Logan is anything the problem?"she asked batting her lashes. If only I could cancel this terrible date but then I had no thought of meeting my mother's hot scolding tongue.
"Uhmm, let's order something."I muttered hoping to shut her up.
Anna Lewis was one pretty lady. From a rich, aristocratic family, she was who one would say met my social standing considering I was also from a rich background.
But she was too work minded and was barely interested relationships. I cursed under my breath for my bad luck. I always got stuck with
My mother was such an impatient woman, pairing me up with the daughters of her friends, hopeful that I'd have a connection with one of them.
"Oh no, I'm checking my diet, Logan. I hope you haven't forgotten I'm a dancer. A ballerina to be exact. And I can't fall out of shape."she pointed a look at me.
"Oh, that skipped my mind. I'm sorry."I apologized but she paid no heed.
Checking her watch, she exclaimed in a loud voice.
"Oh gosh, I'm late for practice. I have to go Logan. See you soon. Good bye."and with that she grabbed her bag and left the restaurant.
Huffing, I paid the bill and stormed off the restaurant. The day wasn't halfway through so I decided to head to the office.
I worked as the managing director of my father's petroleum company.
Having a degree in business management and engineering from Harvard, I was equipped in the ways of the job. My father decided then that I'd be the next CEO of the company.
Ashton Petroleums had made a name for itself. Servicing individuals with quality fuel that had gone through the needed requirement for refinery. We were known in almost every part of the world.
I smiled as I stepped into the company. I smiled at the employees I passed by as they greeted me.
I greeted my secretary, Ava once I got to the 20th floor where my office was.
However, I was a bit surprised with the company I had.
In my office was my father and a close friend of his.
Mr Alberton. The CEO of Alberton pharmaceuticals.
"Hi father, uncle Baxter."I acknowledged them to which I received a stiff nod."my secretary didn't tell me you were here."
"I told her not to."my father said from his position in my chair, twirling a pen between his fingers.
"We're here to talk to you son. A very important issue pertaining to Baxter here, specifically his daughter."my father gestured to his friend, who kept on glaring at me with hatred so intense that he would probably kill me if he could.
My eyebrows furrowed in confusion."What do you mean? Please don't tell me you're going to let me marry his daughter, father."
"I wouldn't allow it ever. But you have to compensate her for what you unknowingly did to her. You're the starting point of my daughter's coldness towards everyone. Even her best friends are not excused."
My head was spinning. What was this old man blabbering about?
"I still don't get you.""Oh but you will once I'm done with you."uncle Baxter murmured, cracking his knuckles.

I winced in pain as I trudged out of my office with a bloody nose and a black eye. My employees watched me wide eyed but I ignored their gazes.Gosh, uncle Baxter had a solid hit.
My mind reeled with all that I'd heard and guilt flooded my being as I recalled that event from a few years ago.
Manna.
Her name popped in my head. If only I'd known the outcome of my stupidity I wouldn't have done what I did then.
And now I had an assignment on my hands.
Getting into my posh sports car, I made my way to the Alberton pharmaceuticals. My first step to completing my mission.
The place was pretty nice once I stepped inside.
A young lady was situated at the desk her eyes buried in the book she was writing in Her name tag read Harriet.
I flickered my gaze all over seeing no one else in sight and walked to her.
"Hello Miss."startled she slammed the book close and looked at me in fear.
"I'm so sorry Sir. I didn't notice you were standing here. Excuse my dullness."she mumbled.
"It's no problem, I'm look-"
"Oh sir, you're hurt. I'll just get the first aid kit."she rushed out before dashing to a room at the farther end.
I sighed. Things weren't going as I envisioned.
Uncle Baxter would definitely kill me if I didn't do as I said.
"Excuse me sir. What do you need?"a firm voice spoke from behind me.
Pulled out of my thoughts, I turned and met an unfamiliar pair of ocean blue eyes. The female's auburn curls were held in a plain bun.
Her face was however blank and emotionless. She was definitely Manna.
"Uhmm Miss..."I trailed off hoping she'd fill me on her name.
"Manna."she replied blankly."you look to have been in a fight."she said eyeing my bloody face.
"Uhmm something like that."I grimaced as the image of her father's fist colliding with my face,"but I'm not here for help with it."
"I just came here to purchase something."
"And that is..?"she murmured moving through the shelves.
Her expression was unfazed by my will to make a conversation with her.
"My daughter is very emotionless. You'll have to do something extraordinary to gain her attention. To spark up any emotion in her. Whether it's hatred for you, I don't care. I just want my old Manna back."uncle Baxter's words filled my head and I immediately blurted out the first thing that came into my mind.
"I'm here to purchase some painkillers and a........condom . Yeah that's what I'm buying."
Her head immediately whipped to my direction and there was an expression.
Of disgust.
I cringed but overlooked her facial expression giving her a flirtatious wink.
Her face held shock at my act before it returned to disgust once again. But that didn't matter,I'd brought out an emotion out of her.
I guess operation 'make Manna smile" wasn't a hopeless cause.
