You gasp and shoot your eyes awake. Maybe you've done that a bit too fast.

Your eyes glance around your surroundings. Where are you? In your bedroom, lying on the bed.

This all seems too familiar to you already.

You sit up from your lying position, shutting your eyes tight as you collate all the information about yourself and your most recent previous events.

My name is [Y/N]. I am a half breed; part human, part monster. I possess the ability to harness magic, appear human, and the people of this city fear me, enough to hate me. Before I went to sleep, I had just returned home from being beaten up in the streets while on an emergent grocery shopping.

You open your eyes once more and grab your phone on your right that you found, or rather, remembered. You turn on the device, the bright phone screen immediately illuminates the darkroom, causing you to squint your tired eyes in response to the sudden burst of light. Once done, you glance back to the phone screen to check the time and date.

It shows 6.00 am, on a Saturday in 2021.

Yep, the time has reset once again.

You glance across the bedroom to confirm a certain event has already passed. Silence and dust greets you instead of a familiar figure.

Yep, your aunt has already passed.

You reluctantly get out of bed after a minute long of debating whether to rot in bed the entire day or do something productive. Frankly, you prefer to do neither, but the day has to be spent, and rotting in bed can be done on another day to mope. You enter the kitchen and open the fridge, greeted by a blast of chilly air and white storage compartments with nothing but decent beer cans stacked at the back end. You close the door shut before heading to the pantry, hoping for some sort of food stored for consumption. You open the pantry door.

And as if fate would have it,

it's empty too.

You sigh in annoyance and try to recall possible past events that this kind of situation occurred before. You take a while to process, and a clear memory comes to mind. It's shopping day. Again. Absolutely great.

You head to the bathroom not too far from the kitchen but takes you longer with your dragging feet pulling your reluctant body to start the day 'proper'. You stare at the mirror in front of you.

An exhausted-looking figure forms in the reflective glass pane. Dark circles under two different eyes - one human and one reptilian - from the countless sleepless nights of insomnia. Your reflection has sticks for arms, slightly hollowed cheeks, and messy mane-like hair covering your head, your left sight blocked by your long thick fringe. Looks like sleep deprivation and depression have gotten to you, huh?

Lack of sleep, lack of food intake. Oh how you wish you can just disappear from this world, but you can't. Attempts to join your aunt in a land of forever peace all failed; time would just reset to a random past memory. All because of that one crystal stubbornly plunged into your chest ever since you discovered your ability to use magic. A soft blue light pulses from the gem; it oscillates between fading and appearing at the same rate as your heartbeat.

You stare at the gem through your reflection for an odd while. Eventually, you give up procrastinating from heading out of your safest location on Earth, just for a 'short errand'. Your lazy and obstinate attitude refrains you from grabbing a hairbrush just a few centimetres away from your grasp. With a simple snap, your frizzled hair is now up in a low ponytail and your fringe appears neatly combed whilst still covering the left side of your face. You're set to go.
