It has been nearly a week since Amigo lives at my place. I'm wondering when Luka is planning on coming to get him. I don't wanna be that guy but a labrador in such a small environment is not an ideal situation. He runs everywhere, jumps on my furniture... let's just say he is energetic. Because every dog needs mental exercise and because I take the time to train Billie so she does not get bored, I started to train Amigo as well. Of course, he knew the basics like sit, stay, lay down but that was it.
Since I work a lot and I do not know how Amigo behaves with others, I could not bring him to my workplace. Anyway, my cabinet is too small for a dog as big as Amigo. I had to work with him a lot so that Amigo could stay alone in my apartment. I do not know what is Luka's job but he certainly does not leave his dog alone very often. The poor dog was scared whenever I was leaving. He would follow me to my door and would block the way. I found that taking a very long walk each morning so that he would sleep during the day was very efficient. I even left Billie home this week so that our new friend would not feel abandoned.
I tried to call Luka every day this week but no answer, no callbacks. I started to be worried. Today, I decided I was going to go past Luka's how to make sure he is still alive. Amigo is going to be so happy to see him! I think he misses his owner. The bond between a dog and its owner is very strong... it always amazes me.
"Leash!" I say so that both dogs would come to me.
Since I do not have Amigo's things, I have to use Bill's doubles. I leash up both beasts and get out of my apartment. The daylight blinds me. It will be a very good day today, a very hot one. I walk the dogs to tire them out a little bit so that they spend their excess energy. I avoid the usual run since the weather is too hot, and we go back to my apartment. The neighborhood is active and I like to see it. The trees are green, the flowers are pretty... I like living here.
"Hop!"
Both dogs jump in my car. I roll the windows down so that they can see outside. Bill passes her head out of the window but Amigo is a little bit on the shy side. After some time spent observing Billie, he does the same.
The route toward Luka's house is rather long. To pass time, I put on the radio. I'm not a very big fan of pop music. I think it is too directed toward sex, money, drug, and alcohol. I quickly get bored with the same rap songs and purposefully cut off some 21 Savage. A beautiful song by Alec Benjamin comes on and saves me from the horrible texts that have the audacity to be called songs. I slowly start to sing the only lyrics I know but it all escalates into some kind of carpool karaoke. Remembering I have two dogs in the backseat, I lower the volume. Their little ears have a lot more auditory captors than mine, I do not want to be part of their deteriorating hearing.
When I arrive at the gates protecting Luka's house, I take the time to admire the landscape. It is probably a very rich district, very protected. The houses are massive, and their value is probably through the roof. The streets are beautiful and the cars on their way out of the gates are way more luxurious than the one I have. Suddenly, I feel very out of place. I even think of turning back but a simple glance at my adorable Billie makes me understand that I have the right, me too, to enter this community. This time, a woman greets me. She has magnificent purple braided hair.
"Hello, Mr. What did you come here for?" she asks me in a playful tone.
"I came to visit Luka" I confidently answer.
"Luka who?" she continues.
At this moment, I freeze. I absolutely do not know his last name. Last time, I did not have to face this kind of obstacle. The man had let me pass without a problem.
"I have no idea" I confessed.
The woman gives me a confused look before crossing her arms on her chest. I feel the sweat on my forehead. After what seemed to be a long moment, she declares:
