"Alya! We have to make this the best Christmas party ever, for Adrien."

"Girl, I know you want to make it special for him, but do you think you might be going a little overboard?"

"What do you mean?" Marinette asked as she looked down at the mess of lights she was tangled up in. "The tree has to have lights on it."

"Okay, carry on." Alya laughed. "Rose can you help her out? I don't think she should be up on a ladder hanging lights with her foot."

"Of course I can. Marinette, you just sit down and I'll take care of it." Rose answered sweetly.

"I hate feeling so useless." Marinette sighed as she slumped onto the couch.

"Don't worry Marinette you're not useless," Lila said, butting herself into the conversation. "Here, why don't you be in charge of the checklist. I have so many other important things to do that I just can't handle it all." Marinette yanked the checklist from Lila's hands and glared at her.

Lila just smiled and walked away.

"Does somebody want to tell me why we asked her to help us with this?" Marinette growled.

"Girl, you seriously need to chill. Lila just wants to be your friend. What is your problem?"

"She's a liar, that's my problem." Alya didn't respond. Marinette took a deep breath and glanced over her checklist to take her mind off Lila.

"Alya, did you say Nino is handling the music."

"Yep. He's all over it." She pointed over to him working on his computer.

"Great." She checked music off the list. "Cookies, check. Lights," she laughed. "Check. Has anyone checked on Luka with the pizza?"

"He's on his way." Juleka called out.

"Ok guys, the party starts in an hour. We need to get this done." Alya said loud enough for everyone to hear.

...............................................................

"Wow Alya! This really came together. I think he's going to love it!"

"Of course he's going to love it. We worked so hard. Especially you Marinette." Lila smirked as she watched Marinette squirm.

Marinette had to bite her lip to keep from screaming. She took a deep breath. She had to calm down, or else she might be akumatized.

She checked the time on her phone. 5:00. Adrien would be there any minute. Maybe he would ask her to dance again! She sighed dreamily.

She was so caught up in her fantasy that she didn't even notice when he walked in.

"Hey Marinette," he said, shaking her out of her daydream.

"Aaah!" She cried, and tripping over her crutches. Adrien caught her just before she hit the ground.

"Whoa Marinette, you don't need to break your other ankle," he said as he helped her to her feet.

"Yeah, I definitely don't want that to happen." She cringed at the thought.

"Why don't you sit down. I'll go get us some juice."

"That sounds good. Thanks Adrien."

"Anything for you." He winked before heading towards the drink table.

"Girl! Did you see that? He winked at you! I think he likes you."

"You always say that, but I don't want to get my hopes up. He probably thinks of me as just a friend."

"That's not what it looks like to me..."

"Shh! He's coming back." Marinette said, tapping Alya's arm to get her to hush.

"Here you go, Marinette," Adrien said, handing her a cup of juice. "Oh, hey Alya." He smiled.

"Hey Adrien. What do you think of the party? It was all Marinette's idea."

"Oh yeah? I think it's great! You guys did an amazing job." He said sitting down next to Marinette.

"Thanks! I wanted it to be perfect for you- since you've never been to one before."

Adrien felt butterflies in his stomach knowing that Marinette was thinking about him. "It is perfect. I don't think you could do any better than this." He looked around the room admiring the details and decorations.

"I'm glad you like it," she said before taking a sip of her juice.

"Listen Marinette, it's the song we danced to at Chloe's party." He stood and held out his hand. "Do you think you can manage a dance with the crutches?"

"I might be a little awkward, but that's nothing new." She laughed and followed him to the dance floor.

"Here, wrap your arms around me. I'll keep you steady." He said leaning her crutches against a chair.

Marinette nearly fainted at how close they were. She took a deep breath and laid her head on his shoulder as they swayed in place.

Was this what heaven was like?
