Miraculous Christmas

Chapter 2

"It looks like you have a hairline fracture. We'll have to put you in a cast for at least 6 weeks, then we'll take a look at it and go from there."

"Thank you doctor," Sabine said, clearly relieved that it wasn't too serious.

"I'll be back in just a minute to put on your cast."

"Now I won't be able to do anything with my friends for the rest of break," Marinette sighed.

"Oh, honey. Don't worry. I'm sure they will come visit you. Besides, you'll still be able to go out with crutches."

"But it won't be the same." She was mostly worried about not being able to help with akuma attacks, but she couldn't say that. 

Just then, she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. It was a text from Adrien that said "Any news? I hope it's not too bad"

Marinette smiled knowing that he was thinking of her and replied, "It's a hairline fracture. I have to wear a cast for 6 weeks..."

"Oh no! Can I be the first to sign it?!"

"Haha if you can beat Alya to it, then yeah!"

"Who was that?" her mom asked.

"Oh, uh, it was just Adrien."

"He's so sweet to check on you."

"Yeah, he is," Marinette said with a smile as a blush swept over her face.

It was Saturday morning and Marinette sat at the table with her parents eating breakfast. She had her leg propped up on the chair next to her. Every once in a while she would sneak Tikki a bite of food where she was hiding in her sweatshirt pocket. 

"How's your foot today, honey?" Tom asked before taking a bite of pancake. 

"It hurts a little, but I'm sure the pain medicine will kick in soon."

Just then, they heard a knock at the door.

"Who could that be so early? Were you expecting anyone Tom?"

"No, I wasn't. I'll go see."

"It's probably Alya. She said she would come check on me today." Marinette said looking towards the door.

"Oh, hi Adrien. Would you like to come in?"

"Thank you sir."

Marinette nearly choked on her orange juice. She scrambled to smooth her hair and make herself look presentable. 

"Hi Marinette, Mrs. Cheng." He smiled and waved at them as he made his way into the kitchen.

"A-A-Adrien! What are you doing here?! Not that I don't want you to be here! It's just that it's a surprise."

"I just came to check on you, and I wanted to be the first to sign your cast." He grinned and pulled a pen out of his pocket.

Marinette giggled as she thought of what he might write. "You beat her." She said as she motioned to her blank cast. "Whatever you're going to put, it better be good." She said laughing. "It's going to be on there for six weeks."

He tapped his pen on his chin as he thought about what to write. "I've got it!"

"I hope your foot heels quickly, signed Adrien." Marinette rolled her eyes at his joke but laughed all the same. "Your sense of humor reminds me of someone else I know," she said thinking about Chat Noir.
