He was sitting with his friend, Steve, and another, Phil. The two seemed to be growing quite close, but, what with his art and excitement about America, he didn't pay much attention to it.

Of course, art soon became the last thing on his mind.

Because, as luck was have it, there he was, staring out over the balcony.

It seemed to Joe that he was trying to forget he existed, that watching the waves was oddly peaceful for his raging mind. That it soothed him, that there was something else there. Something he couldn't quite put a finger on, though he wished he could.

He wished there was a way for him to quiet the rage in the stranger's seemingly unsettled mind.

Oddly enough, though, something about his posture, maybe his looks, the hair, or just the emotions he felt from him, something was tugging at him, and that something was causing him to fall rapidly in love.

"C'mon, Joe, stop looking at him. If he's that handsome he's probably got... well... a girl."

Steve saw Joe flinch at his words, though they both knew they were correct. That man up there had to have someone. A wife, perhaps. And, judging by the way he was dressed, he had to be an heir to some sort of fortune, therefore too pretentious to even think about talking to Joe.

Seconds later, as if responding to Joe and Steve's shared thoughts, a woman showed up and dragged him away.

"C'mon, Joe, snap out of it," Joe heard Steve mumble, though it sounded much more distant than if he was right beside him.

"What?" He said, blinking several times.

"Now's not the time to sulk over people you can't have. C'mon, let's go explore more of the ship!"

But Joe was... less than pleased with the idea. It wasn't that he wanted to sit and mope, being seeing... him with a woman... it hurt. It hurt a lot more than he cared to admit.

Though he did see some reluctance in the way he followed his... fiancée, but he convinced himself that he'd put it there. The girl who grasped his hand was beautiful, there was no way he wouldn't be in love with her.

He'd also seemed reluctant to be on that ship, though Joe couldn't imagine why. It was the Titanic, the unsinkable ship of dreams, and it was going to America. What about that ship would someone not like?

Joe was determined to find out, even if it meant a, more than likely, platonic relationship with that gorgeous fellow.
