There's no light in this small cabin. Darkness shadowing everything, wrapping it up in its blanket. In the thick blackness, Killua's bright blue eyes cut through, allowing him to see who he desperately needs and wants.
Gon is lying next to him on the floor, her body covered by rags. They're sharing as a blanket, she's so close yet so far. Killua can almost feel Gon's breath on his face. He could get closer, but he won't. The ex-assassin watches as Gon's chest rises and falls, being calmed by it. Those sharp sapphire eyes scan up from her chest to examine her face. Gon looks so peaceful asleep and so very, very vulnerable. Killua could strike her up, by sharpening his nails and ripping out her throat in a second. It would be so easy. Gon's guard is completely down.
Because Gon trusts him enough to fall asleep with ease next to him. Gon has even gone as far as to say, "I sleep best with Killua by my side!"... How embarrassing. How foolish. She's a girl who should know not to say these things.
Killua can feel his cheeks turn red, the fire reaching his heart, making his chest feel warm. His lips twitch up into a small smile, and he can't stop it. Gon will never know how happy those words make him feel, nor how happy it makes him, seeing how much Gon trusts him. He would never voice it. He could never explain these feelings in words. Though whenever Gon speaks her feelings about how much she trusts or appreciates Killua, the ex-assassin will say it's embarrassing and tells her not to say that, in reality, Killua loves it. He loves the praises and being reassured that Gon still finds something valuable in him.
Killua's eyes can see well even in this vast darkness, he's able to take in the features of Gon's sleeping expression. She doesn't seem to be dreaming about anything, she looks calm. Her lips are slightly parted, soft breaths passing between them. Gon has changed over the years. Killua can see it in her face. Her face has matured into a beautiful woman, but her smile and eyes show her child-like innocence. Her raven hair is longer, no longer spikey. Her skin is such a lovely shade of tan. Her skin glows as the sun itself has wrapped around her. Killua allows his eyes to wander a bit on his best friend's body, taking in how it has also changed through these four years. Gon's chest isn't small or big, it's a perfect size. She has a finely toned stomach. Killua didn't want to keep looking down, but he knew that Gon's hip was perfect too.
A lot has happened in four years since they were separated. There has been pain, fear, and death, but most of all...love. He learned how to truly love someone. He protected his sister and showed her a lot of the world until they met up with Biscuit. Alluka chose to stay with Biscuit and told him to meet up with Gon again. That's what he did. He missed her and after everything that has happened. He wouldn't be able to leave her side again. If Killua lost Gon, he would lose everything. Wherever Gon goes, he goes. Where Gon calls home, he calls home. Killua's new goal is to be with Gon to be the best friend he can be. To protect Gon at all costs and to keep her beside him.
Gon is like a goddess, She's an angel. Gon has given light to his life. Despite what he is and despite what he's done, Gon decided to be his friend, his first friend. She put all her trust in Killua, even her life. That alone makes Killua's existence something worth fighting for. Killua won't allow Gon to fall into darkness again. He won't allow it ever. Killua wants to live. He wants to live by Gon's side.
Just laying here on the floor next to her, staring at her sleeping expression; he feels warm. He feels like he could be anything Gon wants him to be. He doesn't have to be a killer; Gon told him so. He doesn't have to kill... he has to stay with Gon. forever. They promised each other.
Killua is content with just laying here, watching his best friend sleep for the rest of the night. He doesn't need sleep. He can go days without it, sleeping would mean being apart from Gon. He doesn't want to, not tonight. Killua has already told himself he can't get any closer. He won't take advantage of his friend. Killua tenses a bit...what if she knew that I watched her sleep?
