Everyone in the tower was still shaken by the fact their alarm didn't go off when an assassin snuck in.
Raven was the most shook; after all you casually snapped the neck of an assassin with one hand. But I digress.
You were once again in your training room, holding a standard cooking knife you dragged it across your wrist, you were pushing your healing factor to it's limits, hoping to make it stronger.
"If only I could heal myself with my magic, but no, I can't. Fucking bullshit." You speak to yourself.
"Yo, Cyborg and I-" Garfield freezes, seeing your wound slowly heal, "Dude, you alright? I'm always here if you need to talk."
"Ah, I see how this could be misunderstood. I appreciate the sentiment, but I don't have suicidal thoughts and whatnot. I'm just trying to train my healing factor."
"Ooooooh, Dick didn't mention that power." Garfield grabs a towel hanging up on the wall before cleaning up the blood.
"That's because I only recently found out about it. It's because I just unlocked that meta human gene."
"Oh, huh that's pretty cool." Garfield hands the towel to you, "After you use your magic onto the towel, all five of us were gonna go out to try to calm down from last night."
"Yeah I'll join you," you toss the towel and it disappears, you snap your finger and your costume is replaced by converse, ripped jean's, and a leather jacket.
"Why do you still have the mask on?"
"To hide my identity, Dick wears his in public around you guys. If it was just Dick and I we wouldn't be wearing them."
"Oooooh, makes sense." He sheepishly rubs the back of his head.
"Well? Let's go."
You both reached the bottom floor of the tower, you looked at everyone's clothes; cyborg wore a plain whit hoodie and jeans. Star wore actual clothes. Dick wore his classic outing outfit. And finally Raven, god damn. She wore a leather jacket, not unlike your own, skinny jeans, and a pair of combat boots.
"Looking good team." You give them a friendly wave.
Raven looks over to you and makes brief eye contact, she's lightly hugging herself.
'Definitely gonna have to talk to her when we're alone.' You think to yourself, your eyes still checking her body language.
"Dick, can I say it??" Garfield looks at him with excitement.
He sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose, "Fine."
Garfield strikes a pose, "Titans, Go!"
You all just sort of stand there awkwardly for a second.
"Ooookay, let's just go to the car." Cyborg leads the five of you to the garage, inside is a high tech car.
You whistle at the sight, "Nice." You nod approvingly.
"Made her myself," Cyborg smirks, gently patting the roof of the car.
You nod once again before taking the backseat, Raven takes the other window seat, Beastboy sits in the passenger, while Star and Dick sit in the reverse facing seats behind Raven and you.
Beastboy turned on the radio, it was a channel that played any new popular songs. And also played the top new song every hour. God that was always annoying.
Luckily the radio was doing a throw back week.
"Next up is Fast Car by Tracy Chapman!" They announced.
"Nice, love this song."
You lightly tap your foot to the beat of the song,
"Unwanted fun fact number one; dated a girl and listened to songs like this and songs that would rival even Batman's edginess."
Beastboy laughs and Dick cracks a small smile.
"Do you have an off switch?" Raven looks at you with dead eyes.
"Between my legs...actually that might be the on switch."
At this point Beastboy can barely breath.
Raven punches your arm before turning away.
"Hey, C.B. pass the aux cord."
Cyborg carefully passes you the aux cprdwhile his eyes were focused on the road.
"This is a song I wrote myself when I was 15, it was a way to cope." You explain.
"Some days I just don't feel at home
Thinking I'd be better off alone
Hoping my grave is shallow
So when I'm needed I can followBut I know life is shit
But we gotta make the most of it
Pushed my friends away
So I wouldn't hurt their dayCut to ease the pain
What did I gain
I gained the scars that make us one
As our spilt blood gave us noneJust take me home
So I can meet the one
Instead of being depressed
I'd rather be pressedJust give me a reason
And I'll be leavin'
To see my mom with a smile
I'll walk a thousand milesUsing weed to heal
What I don't wanna feel
Nicotine runs in my veins
Guess that's why I'm in painDon't wanna walk in their path
Leavin' me at an impass
Dad's an alcoholic
Sister's a heroin addictPlease don't leave me alone
Cause then I'll have to atone
Here at home"(A/n; yep, this shit, depressing song was written by yours truly to cope at age 15...I'm better now, but damn that year was horrible.)
"Uh...um we're here." Cyborg forces an awkward tone, but you can instantly tell he's moved by the lyrics.
You open your door and hop out, only to bump into a man around your age.
He has shoulder length, wave dirty blonde hair. He has what could be described as a "Californian tan". Judging by the tag still left on his flannel, saying its size and price, you can deduce he's around 6 foot, maybe taller.
"Woah! Sorry, man." You hold your hands up.
The girl by his side gets a huge smile as she realizes who you are.
"Babe! Its Checkmate! Right in front of us!"
The man throws a look behind you, "Really? That's the best name you could come up with?"
"Oi! I'll have you know I am a master of chess! So yeah." The shade thrown at me goes right over your head, thinking it was directed to you.
He sighs and runs a hand through his hair, "My girlfriend is a huge fan of you, I just don't get the infatuation. You guys are just police officers who fight powered asshats."
"I.B! I told you about being blunt, it can hurt people!" His girlfriend shakes her head, "Apologize!"
"Nah, it's alright. So, I.B. was it?" He nods, "Nice to meet you, now I should be on my way, gotta catch up to the Titans."
You slip a hand in your back pocket and pull out a signed piece of paper.
"For my big fan." You hand it to the girl and dash off.
(A/n; there's part three done, do you know I.B.? Maybe not by his username's initials, welp, Ivan Bullock, author of Monster, Legacy, and smaller books. Is a canon character in my book who can break the fourth wall. Have a good one, dudes, dudettes, and thudes!)
