several weeks had passed since Rhiannon decided that being nice to George was a waste of her time, instead, she spent her days getting to know Cedric, and maybe possibly healing from her summer.

she knew at times she was being dramatic because if anything she had a roof over her head and shoes on her feet, but that doesn't change the fact that she flinches when she slips into french on accident or freezes up when someone raises her voice.

the first time it happened in front of him though, it was a nightmare.

McGonagall decided a group project was a wonderful way to welcome in the month of October. so she was sitting in the library with her horrible partner, George, trying to get things done quickly so she could meet with Sage and figure out what they were going to do for Cedric's birthday.

but of course, he had to be a nuisance about it.

"George stop, laissez-moi écrire ceci" immediately after speaking she flinched away ready for impact.

he was in utter shock, what the hell did she think he was going to do to her?

"Rhiannon? I'm not going to hit you, why did u flinch?" he spoke cautiously as to not upset her more.

"nothing I just- I need to go I'll finish the rest later" she was so embarrassed and wanted to leave immediately, she quickly gathered everything and stuffed it into her bag.

as she whirled around to leave he grabbed her wrist.

"just- I won't hit you, you know that right?" he looked her in the eyes with worry written all over his features, she almost felt bad for him.

"I know George, thanks" she tried to smile at him but was almost positive it came as more of a grimace.

and with that, she ran off in search of her friends, or maybe just a quiet place to think a little.

He tried to approach her several more times, each met with a look of annoyance or complete ignorance. he finally gave up.

"Ria I don't understand why you won't just talk to the poor boy," Cedric groaned one afternoon. his birthday had come and gone and now Halloween was finally nearing, the duo was trying to fit in as much time outside as they could before it got too cold.

"well, I don't fancy him knowing the reason I flinched away after speaking French of all things" she replied before skipping another rock.

"yes but the world won't end if u bloody talk to him" he replied with a knowing look.

"God, I hate it when you're right" she finally gave in and smiled.

"I'm always right" he winked, "now for the love of merlin please go talk to the poor sod"

she laughed while running up the hill in search of the ginger.

George was with Fred in the courtyard trying to plan a new prank for dinner that Friday.

"here how does this sound why don't we slip something into the pumpkin juice that will turn the Slytherins into bright red and gold but the only way for them to change back is if they confess their undying love for a Hufflepuff," Fred said suddenly and loudly as if it was the best idea ever.

"we'll I really hope they're all in a serious relationship with a puff, but doesn't that count as drugging-" George was caught off by someone calling his name.

"George!" Ria shouted, and he was very surprised it was her considering she had been ignoring him for almost a month now.

she was very out of breath when she approached him, her dirty blonde hair a mess around her shoulders and her face flushed.

"Hello Ria?" he spoke cautiously and curiously.

"hi," she took a deep heavy breath, "man I have got to get into shape, can I talk to you alone?" she asked while looking up at him slightly.

"uh yeah, Fred I'll be right back" he looked to his brother who then shot him a slight thumbs up.

they walked in silence to an empty alcove with a staircase leading back into the castle, just to the left of where the twins were just sitting.

"what would you like to say?" he said as she stood on the first step so they were at eye level.

she hesitated for a second, weary of his reaction before taking a breath and speaking.

"I guess I just want to apologize, I shouldn't have ignored you I was just nervous because I don't want to tell you why I reacted after speaking in my language. which is honestly stupid because it's-" she cut herself off due to the look he was giving her, which made an angry storm of butterflies erupt in her stomach for reasons she wasn't sure of.

"love, you don't owe me any explanation at all," he spoke slowly," it's your business and I'm sorry if it seemed like I was prying." he hesitated before going on. "but I do want to be on friendlier terms"

she released a breath of relief she didn't realize she was holding "well thank Helga because it was getting exhausting avoiding you" she smiled, and he grinned back.

"well good that settles it then"

"Brilliant!"

and if it was even possible, his grin got even wider.

A/N

well ok, I was going to do an enemies moment but it's so exhausting writing that, so friends with heavy banter it is!!!

plus I couldn't think of any reason for them to be proper enemies because they're both too nice tbh

yes she was being dramatic about quite literally everything but IDC she's literally 13 everyone is dramatic at 13.

anyways cheers I hope you liked this chapter, sorry for such insanely slow updates. I plan on updating more even though Idk how to move this alone at all. but it will be a moderately slow burn, but not too extremely slow burn. lots of pinning.

xoxo.
