Harry was woken up by the overbearing sound of his Samsung alarm, 'Over the Horizon'. He tapped his phone screen repeatedly trying to shut it off. Failing miserably, he was forced to get up and grab it, finally putting an end to the annoying ringtone.

His phone was well past its glory days, with cracks along the screen and barely any sensitivity. Yes, he was well aware he could just ask his mom, Anne, or his stepdad, Benjamin, to get him the latest iPhone, but he refused to believe that any phone was better than his current one.

Maybe it was his attachment issues, he had trouble letting things of high sentiment go, his phone being one of them. He fondly remembered the day he and his former best friend Louis had finally saved enough money to get themselves phones.

Harry was always rather well off, he didn't need his job at the local Starbucks, but Lou had never been so lucky, his mom and stepdad could barely afford to keep him and his four half sisters in school, let alone get him a new phone.

So when Louis announced he was going to look for a job, Harry happily joined in the search. It felt good to get the phone after he had worked so hard for it so the job wasn't much of a bother.

Harry finally rolled out of bed after contemplating skipping school altogether. His attendance wasn't the best right now so he decided against it.

After taking a shower and washing his face, he run his hands through his curly brown hair and walked back out into his room. He took in the sight of his huge living space.

Currently it was looking messy as ever, with his clothes all over the floor and his shoes scattered everywhere from his dresser to the laundry basket. He didn't mind it though. He knew their house help, an old woman named Mara, would have the room looking good as new by the time he got back.

He didn't like that his room would never look lived in. It almost looked like a guestroom in a house which never received visitors. It had an eerie look about it after it had been cleaned, and Harry often felt like he didn't belong.

He wore a plain white shirt with black ripped jeans before pulling on his Chucks and heading downstairs.

His stepdad was sat at his usual spot at the far end of the unnecessarily long dining table, with a single cup of coffee, probably black, infront of him. He was reading the newspaper, trying to keep up to date with politics which was expected as he was to run for mayor in the next term.

Harry tried to stay silent, putting on his expressionless face as he walked over to greet his father. He never hugged or kissed his father like most kids did. He was only supposed to stand atleast three feet away from his dad and say a simple but firm,

"Good morning sir." Depending on the time of the day it was to which his father would reply with a curt nod.

Harry's mom was a whole other story, the hugs and cuddles she gave were nearly enough to make up for his lack of fatherly love. She was only allowed to give him affection in private, away from the press who would think of the family as weak.

After greeting his dad, Harry took a seat opposite him and stared at his meal which today was a strawberry crepe. Not very filling but it would do.

He didn't see his mother before he had to leave, getting into his black Mustang and driving over to pick up his bestfriend, Niall from his home.

Harry's parents didn't know that he was friends with Niall, a bubbly blonde boy who had a middle class family.  Niall's family was the complete opposite of Harry's, they lived in a normal suburban house, unlike him, in his mansion, and they had no deep family secrets between them. Harry barely knew anything about his stepdad, only that he was the man his mom chose to replace his real dad with, and for that he loathed him.

Benjamin Filch married Harry's mom one year after Louis left. Harry was in a rough spot in both his school life and his family life and when Anne introduced her fiance to Harry, he had no choice but to put on a fake smile and accept him with open hands into his small world. That was when he learned to mask his emotions. Little had Harry known that Benjamin would change the whole dynamic of his life.

Harry arrived at Niall's house, knowing the boy wouldn't be ready in time, but still hoping he would nevertheless.
He had to honk five times before Niall came running out, barefoot, with his shoes in his hands and his bag wide open.

Harry couldn't help but laugh at his antiques, Niall had never been the tidy one of the two. Harry couldn't blame him though, he didn't have Ben Filch as a stepfather.

A book fell out of Niall's bag and he reached over to retrieve it, causing the rest of the contents to come toppling out.

The blonde boy looked over at harry, signaling for him to come and help and he reluctantly climbed out of his car, still laughing.

"Shut up and help me." Niall exclaimed in mock exasperation, gesturing towards his books and walking to Harry's car. He didnt mind leaving the curly haired boy to pick them up.

When Harry got back to his car, Niall was now fully dressed and smiling, looking quite proud of himself.

"Can't say I didn't expect that, mate." Harry said, still red from his laughter earlier on. Harry was only himself with Niall, he knew the blonde boy would never leave him behind, not like Louis did.

Everyone at school knew Harry as a quiet brooding jock, no one dared come near him, from his expressionless face to his bad boy stance, people were often intimidated by him. Some people even thought he had a criminal record.

He never minded it though, he didn't want to talk to all those insecure teenagers pretending to be someone they were not. Even though deep down, he knew he was one of them.

"Let's get a move on then." Niall replied in his thick Irish accent, stuffing his books back into his bag.
