Maui's POV:
We still had quite a way to go until we were home. However, in some ways, I was quite happy about that, but for many reasons. Obviously I was terrified of facing my parents after running away from home and my problems. But it wasn't just that. I felt like I had a slight connection with Mulan and I didn't want to see her go on alone. I was quite worried about her but I was determined to have faith that moana had taught her well and she appears as a smart girl and probably a fast learner. Moana was a fast learner. I remember the first time I took her sailing. Her eyes were sparkling as she looked around at her surroundings. She really loved it. I taught her everything I knew in only a few weeks. Obviously Mulan wouldn't be as good as moana at sailing as they would have only had a few days or even less to practice. But as long as she knows the basics she won't have too much trouble. Or so I hope. Me and moana had decided to take it in turns to sleep while the other would stay up to steer the boat and make sure everything was steady. My turn being awake was almost over but I wasn't really tired. And how could I sleep when I had so much to think about. Plus, she looked really peaceful sleeping next to her friend. So I decided to leave her for a bit longer. I decided to drift away and let my thoughts take over me, fantasising about me being back at home where everything was calm and tranquil. Although, I have enjoyed the company of just myself for the past couple of weeks or so. There was something very therapeutic about sitting by myself watching the hypnotic waves guiding me through a trance. I felt myself doing the same now, the swaying slightly as the mesmerising waves enveloped each other as they collided. I didn't want this feeling to end but I felt myself becoming slightly dizzy and my eyelids were getting heavier so I decided I should wake moana. I grabbed a piece of bread that Moana had managed to gather. My stomach was begging for food as I hadn't had much all day and I get even hungrier at night and early morning. I watched the waves one last time as they danced underneath the boat. That was when I saw something else emerge from under the boat. At first it was merely a dark shadow but as I meant over the boat more, I noticed it was glowing slightly. The next thing I knew it had formed the shape of a sting ray and was gliding swiftly through the water. Once I realised it was a sting ray, I instantly knew who it was. Grandma. I then felt a great sense of peace and relief at the fact she was watching over us. I had never felt so safe and secure. It was a nice feeling to go to bed with so I then woke up Moana and left her with the boat as I drifted away once more.
