David's consciousness soon returned as he opened his eyes. Above him were trees, tall and dark, covering the sky. Even though the trees' dark leaves blocked the sky, the chilly air gave him the sensation that it was night time. I'm trapped here. He thought. Again. His attention turned to a young boy beside him, also awakening. He mustn't be older than 18, and his denim jacket was stained with some sort of substance, too faint for David to even guess.
"Oh no!" The boy exclaimed. "I can't be here. Not again!" His brown hair stuck to his forehead due to the sweat that was now covering his head.
"Hey, take it easy!" David walked up to him, grabbing his arms that were shaking frantically. "C'mon kid, get a grip!"
The boy looked up at David, his eyes wide with bags underneath. "Alright. I'm Quentin Smith. What about you?" His innocent eyes locked with David's.
"David." He finally said, walking over to a generator. He took in his surroundings, slowly creeping past a leaning tower, creaking as if slowly swayed side to side. "I've never been 'ere kid. Have you?"
Quentin shook his head. "I went back to my old preschool last time."
"Your preschool?" David exclaimed.
"Yeah. My preschool gardener was the killer. He's called Freddy Krueger." Quentin told him quickly as they both started repairing the generator.
"Never heard 'o him before." David replied. "My last killer was a pig. Literally."
"A pig? Thats so conf-" David backed away as the generator exploded in front of him.
"God, damnit!" David swore. He took one look behind him. "Lets get out of here, before our killer comes."
"Good idea." Quentin replied. "Wait do you hear that?"
David and Quentin sat in silence, then David shuddered, hearing his heartbeat. He"s close.
"Come on, kid! Run!" David yelled, running close behind Quentin. His heart beat even louder, until he could see the killer beh8nd them. A tall man with a mask with two eyes and a smile. Nails stuck out of his skin like a splinter in a finger, and he lumbered forward, a cleaver in one hand, a bear trap in the other.
Quentin jumped through a window, and David ran around it, the killer right on his tail. He took a sharp left, dropping a conveniently placed pallet onto the killer. That will buy me some time.
His heartbeat faded, until the only sound was the blood roaring in his ears. "Kid?" He whispered, half to himself. "Where are you, kid?"
"Over here, Mr King!" Quentin answered.
Mr King. David thought. I could get used to that. "You're alright! You got me scared for a 'econd 'ere."
Quentin seemed calm and stiffled a smile. The boy opened his mouth to speak, but instead a scream sounded from across the map. "A survivor's hurt..."
"We should go find them. Right now." David agreed. "You've got a med-kit, right?" He spoke quickly, pointing to the red box in his hands. "Use it on them. I'll distract the killer."
Quentin looked nervous. "Are you sure you're willing to take a hit for them?" He asked.
David nodded. "Don't worry about me, kiddo. I'm gonna be alright." David didn't wait for the kid to reply, instead he ran through a window, so fast it must've alerted the killer because before he knew it he was running for his life in a jungle gym, wondering if he would make it out alive.
