"Love, he's gonna be okay. He's with George. He's in good hands.""I know. I just... you can understand why I feel like this, Freddie," I told my boyfriend as we left his and his brother's shop.
"This is the first time we've been out together since the war," Fred reminded me. "We need this. Okay? You and me, a beautiful night, all dressed up, flowers," He pointed at a bouquet of white roses lying atop a bench. "We need this, okay? We need this break."
"Are these for me?" I bit back tears as I picked up the bouquet of white flowers. "Fred these are beautiful."
"I know white roses make you think of your brother," Fred reasoned. My heart swelled. "Did I do okay?"
"More than okay," I hugged him as a single tear drifted down my cheek. With a wave of my wand, I transported the bouquet back to our flat above the shop. "Thank you."
"I'm only just starting, darling," He offered me his arm. We walked along the quiet streets together towards a lane of restaurants. But we kept walking.
"Fred?"
He smiled down at me. "Trust me."
"I do... but I'm also confused..."
"Well, being confused is okay," Fred chuckled, a sparkle in his eye as he led me off of the path and up to a tree stump that had a pine cone sitting on it. "Portkey. Come on."
"Fred..." I bit my lip. "What are you planning."
"I've already planned it," He grinned, pulling me up to him. "Come on."
We touched the pine cone together and it whizzed us off to a beautiful moonlit hillside. An old oak adorned the crest of the hill and under its canopy was a white blanket, a basket, bottle of wine, and a guitar leaned against the trunk of the tree.
"Fred Weasley!" I gasped, picking up the skirt of my dress and kicked off my heels so I could run up the hill. "This is beautiful! Oh, you," I turned around to him, positively beaming at him. "Fred you are something else."
"You're someone else to me. Wanted to make sure I spoiled you," He said, pulling off his overcoat and unbuttoning the first few buttons of his white button up.
I sat on the soft blanket and met Fred's hazel eyes. "God I love you."
"I love you too, beautiful," He answered, then opened the picnic basket and revealed all of our favorite snacks we'd had during our time at Hogwarts together.
"I still think about it," Fred began, taking a bite out of a strawberry. "What Hogwarts was like with you."
"Yeah?" I smiled up at him. "Me too. Remember when your parents almost adopted me?"
Both of us started laughing.
"I had to write to them that same day to tell them that I love you!" Fred added. "You nearly left me! I had to make sure you were still stuck with me!"
"Oh, stuck with you? Is that what this is?" I couldn't breathe at this point because I was laughing so hard. "Fred you're insane."
"Hey, you made a baby with this insane person."
"I did. And you two are the loves of my life," I concluded.
"I'm glad the feeling is mutual."
We finished up the snacks and Fred snatched his guitar and began strumming a few of the strings. I leaned back on my hands and watched him with adoration, falling in love with him all over again.
He hummed a tune as he strummed his guitar to match, then began singing a song I had never heard before.
"I need you tonight. Together we can go crazy. We can put out the lights. Together we can go," He looked up at me, making me instantly blush. "I look straight in your eyes, and everything is so hazy. It's just you and I, so call me out, call me out baby."
