derek's pov.
time lapse: later that night

I walk up to the front door of Charlotte's house, knocking on it lightly. I was here earlier, but Charlotte had me leave so that we both could get ready and meet up again later. I wait patiently on her porch, my mind racking with thoughts.

She called me her brother--well not really. technically, she told me I was like a brother to her. She told me that this would be fun because we were both just friends and I was like a brother to her. Did she not here what I said while she was asleep in the hospital bed?

My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by Charlotte's front door swinging open, "You ready?" She asks.

I nod, my eyes flicking up and down as they rake her body--she's wearing the olive green sweater that I love and a pair of familiar black jeans. I admire her closely, smiling to myself as I do.

Charlotte lets out a small giggle, "Okay, huckleberry, control yourself." She teases.

I chuckle lightly and nod at her works, "You got it, newbie." I state in agreement.

We make our way down the steps of the porch and down the sidewalk that leads to the driveway. As we make our way down the driveway, I walk over to the passenger side with Charlotte, opening the door for her.

"I can open my own door, huckleberry." She states, letting out a breathy laugh.

I nod, "I know that." I state as she slides into the car.

I shut the door behind her before running over to the driver's side. I climb into the car, the space between Charlotte and I echoing with her familiar giggles. I smile softly as I slide the keys into the ignition, starting the car and pulling out of the driveway.

I grab the aux cord and hand it to Charlotte as she squeals in excitement, "You really are starting to enjoy my taste in music, huh?"

I nod slightly at her words, "It's starting to grow on me." I admit, giving my shoulders a little shrug as I do.

Charlotte giggles lightly as she connects her phone to the radio. She begins to play her music, but it immediately gets cut off by an incoming phone call.

Incoming Call: Aaron Hotchner.

Charlotte and I groan as the familiar name comes across the radio touchscreen, "You've got to be kidding me." We mumble in unison.

Charlotte lightly rolls her eyes and accepts the call, "Rhodes-" She begins in a firm tone.

I glance over to her, "A-And Morgan." I state firmly, adding onto her sentence.

Hotch chuckles lightly before clearing his throat, "Hate to ruin all of your fun, but we have a case. I need you both to get to the bureau, because we need all hands on deck right now." He states, sternly.

I glance to Charlotte and nod, "You got it. We'll be there in ten." I state as Hotch hums in response, hanging up the call.

"Hold on." I state, turning towards Charlotte.

Charlotte furrows her brow in confusion as she glances over to me. Suddenly, I quickly swerve out of the lane, taking a quick u-turn to turn the car around. I press on the gas, making the car accelerate as we drive down the road and make the quick ride to the bureau--causing Charlotte's furrowed brows to slowly fade away, relief and excitement washing over her facial expression.

We arrive inside the bureau building and head over to the elevators, "Hold the elevator!" I hear a familiar voice call out.
