I sat on my ragged bed, head up high. Today was the day that Maria Rambeau would be coming to the orphanage. When I heard the gong that the Warden used to call the children to the main room, I rushed to the rom, and I got there a second before Maria came in. She went around the room, and a while later, she came to me. "Hello there. What's your name?" "Layla Samantha hopefully Rambeau. " I said. "You want to be adopted." " I want to get out of this orphanage that is hell. I've wanted to die for the last four years. If you show any emotion at all, your beat and starved for a month."
Maria looked at me in shock. "How do you not have any scars then?" I shrugged. "I heal fast." I hesitated. "I do have one scar though." I led her to my room, and pulled up my shirt. On my back was the HYDRA symbol. "The Warden branded that on my branded on my first day." I told her. "Branded?" Maria asked. "Branded." I confirmed. Maria took my arm and led me down to the main room.
"Have you chosen yet, Ms. Rambeau?" Warden asked. Maria pointed to me. "I'll take her." Warden frowned. "Are you sure? It's the weakest." "Do not talk about children as if they're inanimate objects." Maria said angrily, glaring at him. "Show them." Maria told me. . I pulled my shirt up, revealing the brand. "Warden did this on my first day." I said in a small voice.
The rest of the children stood up and pulled their shirts up as well, revealing the same symbol. "Mr. Afify you are herby arrested for child abuse." Ms. Rambeau said as he pulled out his phone. "Who's going to run the orphanage- Ow!" I had ran over to him and kicked him in the crotch. I pummeled his chest with my tiny fists, and ran back to the safety of Maria's side. "Layla Samantha Rambeau, who do you think is responsible enough to run the orphanage?" I pointed to Joseph, the oldest one in the orphanage.
