You and Jack sprinted to the end of the tunnel. It concluded in a hill that led up to the surface. Once you both got up, you found yourselves in a forest. Sunlight broke through the trees' branches onto a clearing. A bright banner identifying an Easter egg hunt was hanging high between two trees. Children milled around with baskets, all of them lamenting about how they couldn't find any eggs anywhere.

"Maybe he hid them really well this year?" a girl tried, sitting on top of a picnic table.

"I checked everywhere. There's nothing," a boy responded despondently.

You and Jack watched from afar as Bunny bounded up to two kids holding a basket with intact eggs inside.

"Yes there is! There is! I mean, these aren't my best lookin' googies, but they'll do in a pinch!" Bunny held out an egg toward the boy.

"I can't believe it," the girl said as she slid off the table.

"I-I know," Bunny laughed tensely, turning to face her.

"There's no such thing as the Easter Bunny," the girl said dejectedly, her eyes completely glazing over the rabbit.

"What?" Bunny said incredulously. "No! Wrong! That's not true!" The children started to walk away from him, so Bunny stepped in front of another little boy. "I'm-I'm right in front of ya, mate."

The boy walked straight through Bunny. The rabbit curled in on himself, his breathing becoming labored at what had just happened to him.

"They don't see me," Bunny said, his gaze lingering on the retreating children before crumpling to his knees. "They don't see me."

You let out a shaky breath. Jack's eyes were wide. At the moment, you wanted tell Bunny you knew exactly how he was feeling, but you knew you were in no position to do so. Tooth fluttered over to where Bunny was and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Jack! Y/n! Where were you two?" North's voice said from behind.

You and Jack turned to face him. North's swords were drawn, his body slumped with fatigue, and his eyes devastated.

"The Nightmares attacked the tunnels, they smashed every egg, crushed every basket- nothing made it to the surface!" North leaned on his swords as he spoke.

You wouldn't have believed him if you hadn't seen the eggs with your own eyes. You closed your eyes tight, hoping that all of it was all just a bad dream.

"Jack! Y/n!" Tooth glided in front of you both and gasped abruptly. "Where did you two get those?"

She was looking down at your hands. You realized you were still holding your tooth box. Jack was holding one as well, and you wondered what had happened to him in Pitch's lair.

"We were...It's, uh-" Jack stuttered.

"We didn't mean-" you tried.

"Where's Baby Tooth?" Tooth glanced around worriedly.

Neither you or Jack could come up with an answer for her.

Tooth put her hands to her mouth. "Oh, Jack...Y/n...What have you two done?"
