We walked of the train and I looked around. There were dozens of black carriages pulling themselves forward with students sitting in them. They were on a road that led to a set of big iron gates.

"Ruby, hurry up" Lola calls to me. "Coming" I shout back.

I joined Lola and Jace by the lake where the first years were grouped up together.

There was a man there with us. He was quite big and said with a low and gruff voice "All the firs' years here, good. No more than four a boat"

We hurried to a boat and another boy joins us. I look around and see my brother with three other boys talking loudly together in a boat.

I made a mental note to stay away from them. Anybody who was friends with James should not be easily trusted.

All of a sudden the boats start moving forward. "You will soon see your first glimpse of Hogwarts" the man tells us.

I turn and see Lola grinning at me."I can't wait" she whispers excitedly. I start grinning to and try to imagine what Hogwarts looks like. It would probably be huge with towers coming out everywhere.

The boats turn a corner and everybody gasps at the sight. We could see Hogwarts. It was thousandfold better than I imagined. We could see lights flickering in every window and all the towers that came out of the main buildings.

The boats stopped and everyone got out of them. The man lead us up a few staircases and to a stern looking woman in green robes.

The woman started speaking "Welcome to Hogwarts. I am professor McGonagall and I will lead you to your sorting. Remember your house is your family, help your house to earn points but any wrongdoings will lose your house points. I hope you do well and now it's time to follow me."

We followed the professor into the great hall. It was packed with students that sat in four house tables. By the left wall were the Slytherins that sat and talked quietly. Carefully watching the first years. Then came the Hufflepuffs. They were all chatting and giggling. They looked like to be a fun group to be around. On our right were the Ravenclaws. That were also talking but didn't have the same happy aura as the Hufflepuffs. And lastly by the right wall we're the Gryffindors. They were all talking loudly and cracking jokes. They were degeneracy the loudest table.

Ruby wasn't sure which house she liked best. They all seemed fine to her even though she had heard some not so good stuff about the Slytherins. The hall went quiet and she looked to the front where the teachers sat.

Albus Dumbledore, the famous headmaster had risen from his chair. "Welcome to Hogwarts. Before the feast begins there are a few new students that must sorted. When Professor McGonagall says your name please come to the front and try on the hat."

Professor McGonagall started calling out names and one by one we were sorted. I didn't really listen but I recognised a few of them as James's friends. They were all sorted into Gryffindor. Then my brothers name came up.

"Potter, James" He walked up to the front and sat down on the three legged stool. After a few seconds the hat called out "GRYFFINDOR" and the crowd of red cheered as he sat down with his friends. I hoped I wouldn't be in the same house as him.

Then Professor McGonagall called the next name "Potter, Ruby" I tried to walk to the front confidently but I might have failed. I sat down on the stool and the hat was placed on my head.

"My, my. Where to put you. You are quite tricky" A voice said in my head. " You are brave and daring like a Gryffindor. Loyal and hard working like the Hufflepuffs. You also have creativity and wisdom like Ravenclaws and are ambitious and determined like the Slytherins. But the question is where to put you."

"In the right house you will do exdrodinary things but not without your friends. Well the answer is quite clear now."

"It better be...
