i stare at you ramble about your day, entranced by the way the light seeps into your skin and makes you glow, hoping to get a touch, a taste of the light my darkness desires. i stare and stare, wishing, oh wishing, that i wasn't the way i was. that i could be worthy of you. even though you hold my hands, despite knowing they've killed and hurt. even though you kiss my lips, despite knowing they've uttered torturous words far worse than a stab wound. even though you hold me close, trying to chase out the darkness, insisting i deserve the world and more. i still feel like I'm not enough. so as you whisper into my skin the three words i so desperately want to believe under the moonlight, i ask, "how could a heart like yours ever love a heart like mine?"
