Chapter 18

Maxine's POV

I sigh, putting up my wall as I look at Austin playing with Victoria. They looked so cute together, you could tell Victoria was going to be a daddy's girl. The way she smiled at him and never wanted to let him go. Hell if we keep up with what we're doing we'll have another one! I don't mind have more but not now. Victoria is our main priority until she can tell us what she needs. I remember when Haley told me that Austin was going to have a neverending sexual appetite, she was right. But now I'm thinking, do we need to be careful about it? I think we should for the sake of it. Austin and Victoria both looks at me. Austin with his big dark eyes and Victoria with her Gray ones, beaming with joy.

"What's up?" Austin asks

"Nothing" I say

Austin sighs and lean back with Victoria.

"It has to be something because you look like your in deep thought" Austin says

I look at him slightly annoyed for killing the mood. It was really nothing just worried about the sex. And I forgot to put up my wall. I close one eye and peek to see Austin looking a little upset.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Austin says

"I told you it's nothing" I say

"Well it's something if your thinking about it!" Austin says getting a little louder

"Austin calm down its just thoughts. Why are you getting mad, cause I'm worried about getting pregnant again?" I say

"Well thats all you had to say instead of putting up your wall. I thought we were supposed to tell each other everything" Austin says getting quiet.

Austin hands me Victoria who immediately starts crying as Austin walks out his office. Later I heard the front door of the pack house slam close. Minutes later I heard Haley open up the office door and gives me a concerning look as Victoria screams her heart out.

"What happened dear?" Haley asks as she sits beside me and takes Victoria and bounces her as she quiets down.

"I just want a minute to think by myself. He got mad because I put up my wall and I accidently put it down and he heard me thinking about the sex." I say

Haley shakes her head. "What's concerning you?" She asks

"Well he's been wanting it like every couple of hours and I can take but so much. It's great but the real concern is getting preganant again. I can't take that right now, it's to much stuff going on and Victoria isn't ready yet. But I was just thinking." I say

"Maybe you should've talked to Austin about it" Haley says

"I know I should have if it's been bothering me but how was I going to say it without offending him. You see how he just stormed off like that" I say protesting

Haley looks at me with sympathy as she now rocks a sleeping Victoria.

"Look since Jackson and Jessica are gone for the next 4 days you should take a break. Go home get some milk, clothes, and diapers for Victoria, I'll watch her." Haley says calmly

"Haley, you do-" I was cut off

"Thats not an offer thats a comand, now go" Haley says motioning me up and out of the office.

Haley's right maybe we just need sometime alone for a little bit. I go back to the house and get Victoria's things ready. Where did Austin go though?

Austin's POV

I smell a deer's track and follow it. Blade has taken over and right now he wanted to go crazy. How didn't Maxine just tell him that she was worried about getting pregnant again. Truth be told, I would'nt mind another child. We were in a stable lifestyle, just a little vampire troubles.

The tracks stop after a while longer and I see the same tribal woman. What does she want so that she has to haunt my family and I. The woman smiles and holds the head of Lauren. I don't know why but I charged full speed at it. Blade's fang's sunk into the being as it fell limp. I opened my eyes to see the deer I was hunting down. I shake my head as I look around not seeing anything. I grab the deer by it's neck and carry it to the back of the pack house where some of the hunters are. I bring the deer up to them and walk off to my house to take a shower. I smell like deer blood. I turn back and walk into the house and quickly make my way to the bathroom to take a shower. I turn on the hot water and stand there as the water hits me.

Was it that big of a deal. Why couldn't she just tell me what was on her mind. I swear woman are so confusing. I step out the shower to smell food being cooked. I throw on some sweat pants and walk downstairs to see Maxine taking some chicken out the oven and putting it on a potholder. She turns a pot down low and grabs a bowl from the cabinet and see her putting some sort of vegetables from the pot in there. She sets the bowl on the island countertop and grabs some plates from a cabinet. She sets the two plates on the island countertop, on infront of me and puts two pieces on my plate and on on hers.I sit down and she doesn't say anything as she puts the pan in the sink filled with dishwater. She hands me a big spoon for the vegtables which I take as she washes up the little bit of dishes in there as I fix my plate. She gets out two cups and pours cranberry juice. She sets them down, one infront of me. She sits down and starts eating. We don't say anything as we sit in silence. Halfway through I noticed it was dead quiet in the house. Where is Victoria? Something tells me that my mom has her. As both of us finish she gives me a quick glance. I acted like I didn't see her but I did. I take my plate to the sink and wash it before heading upstairs. I lay in bed and l look at my phone.Maxine comes in a little later and takes her shower. She comes out and goes to her closet and puts on some pajamas. She glances at me before getting into bed and sighing. She gets on her phone for a little before turning over and going to sleep. I go to sleep to after a while before waking up in the middle of the night to see Maxine shivering so I wrap my arms around her and she immediately stops with a light snore with me following her.
