I don't like you
Three words that Isabel never took personally until she met him.
It was a normal day for Isabel, the wind was crisp and the smell of oranges filled the air. Isabel never cared for oranges, yet everywhere she went the smell would follow her. When she was a little girl her parents would tell her that they found her growing on an orange tree and took her in as their own. Isabel being five at the time decided she was done living with her family and for a whole week wouldn't leave an orange tree until her parents went into great detail about how Isabel was created. She hasn't eaten an orange since. Nor climbed a tree. "Isabel darling!" her mother cried as she walked up to her arms wide as Isabel entered the house brushing snow off her dress and hat. "I've missed you dearly," she said pulling her in kissing her on the check. "I know it's been forever, what 5 days now?" Isabel said as she let go of her mother. "I'm just so lonely without you dear," she said with a grin. "You have a dad," Isabel said with a smile. "I guess that's true. But he doesn't have a brain." she said with an eye roll. "oh Delores how you just get sweeter every day." said a man coming up from behind her mother. "morning father." Isabel said with a smile and a nod. "hello dear." he said returning her smile before placing a kiss on her mother's forehead. "oh come on in!" her mother said grabbing her hand leading Isabel into the house. "lily!" her mother called. "yes miss Delores?" said a younger girl with long blonde hair pulled back into a bun. "please help Isabel unpack her things." she said with a nod. "yes miss." lily said before grabbing Isabel's luggage. "so must be a dream come true working for my mother." Isabel said as she helped caring one of the suitcases. "oh very. I look up to her in so many ways." lily said as she placed Isabel's things down in the nearest bedroom. "good one." Isabel said as she took off her coat hanging it in the coat hanger that hung on the wall next to the door. "I'm not joking miss Isabel, I'm very proud to work here. I hope someday my daughter will want to help someone like this." "weird." Isabel said as she sat down on the bed. "you are gonna love it here." lily said with a nod before leaving. "yay." Isabel said as she looked around the large empty room. Her family was always rich but they just moved to England for her father's work. So it was the first time seeing the house. From what she had already seen it was beautiful. The room she was in at the moment had two floor-to-ceiling bookshelves the were placed on either side of her bed with a dark green painted wall behind them. To the left of the bed, there was a large bay window with several pillows and cushions on it. And to the right was a desk. The rest of the room empty. On the desk sat a tall mirror. Isabel noticed how her nose and under eyes were bright red in her reflection. She sighed as she took her hat, causing a small amount of snow to hit the floor. She placed it on the desk before she pulled back a couple pieces of her hair into a haft up haft down look. Isabel was a pretty girl. She had a larger forehead which was covered in bumps. She had biggish blue eyes and in some lighting looked green. That we're pared with long lashes. Her nose was on the smaller side and looked like something from a Dr. Seuss novel. She had smaller lips that at the moment looked slightly capped and very red. Her smile was very beautiful and almost contagious. She had cheekbones that at times made it look as if she had very long dimples. No matter how her skin looked she was still very pretty. "ma'am?" a voice said breaking her from her trance. "yes?" she said turning quickly to see a boy standing in the doorway. "your parents are asking for you." he said. "great." she said as she was getting ready to leave. "I'm sorry but please don't mind me asking. But what are you gonna be wearing for dinner tonight?" he asked. "fully naked of course." she said with a nod. "what?" he asked. "I'm kidding. Disappointing I know." she said with a slight grin. "so you will be wearing something?" he asked. "oh aren't you smart." she said as she walked past him. "rude." he mumbled to himself as he followed her down the long fancy staircase. "yes mother?" Isabel said as she walked up to her. "oh yes hello dear, I need you and lily to go get you a dress." she said with a nod. "okay, you know I have thousands upstairs right?" Isabel said looking back at the stairs. "yes but those aren't prepared nor good enough for tonight." her mother said. "it's not like the Queen is coming." Isabel said. "yes but the smiths are." she said. "what a creative last name." Isabel said. "just go with Lily." her mother said with a wave of her hand. "yippie." Isabel said before turning to look at lily. "aren't you lucky you get to watch me buy a dress!" she said as she walked up to her. " I can't wait." lily said with a nod. "you are gonna break sometime." Isabel said with a look of almost disbelief. "are you ready miss?" lily asked. "well I have my wallet upstairs so as my jacket and hat. So yes lets go." Isabel said before she turned back to look at her mother. "here." her mom said with a bit of an eye roll. Isabel looked down at the pouch full of coins. "thank you, mother." Isabel said with a smile. "here miss." said the boy handing her her jacket. "thanks." she said before she saluted her mom and walked out the door with Lily trailing behind.
