4. Semi Feral

Itachi was in Anbu, and he had been since he was eleven. He was tired of these grueling mission and he was coming home from another mission when he reported with his team, he was shocked when the Hokage asked for him and Inu to stay behind.

They did and seals went up. She asked them to dropped their mask and she looked at the two young Anbu captains. She could tell that keeping them in Anbu would not be a good choice.

"You both will be Jounin, now Kakashi I believe your skills will most be fitted as a Jounin sensei when the time comes." The woman spoke, her blonde hair filtering on her face. She used a headband to push her hair back.

"Itachi, I feel as though you need to make connections to others outside of your clan. You will be a regular Jounin for now, and if I seem improvement you will become a Jounin sensei as well." The both nodded, the woman leaned back.

She looked at the two young adults. Well one young adult one teenager as they bowed and took their Jounin apparel and headed to their homes. The sixteen year old looked to the twenty six year old male and spoke.

"Thank you for all your leadership and wisdom." Itachi bowed and Kakashi chuckled.

"No need to bow, we both did what we had to for the sake of the village. I'll be seeing you around Itachi." Itachi nodded and headed back to his thoughts with his destination in mind. He sighed and remembered it was his little brothers first day at the academy. He wondered if he made a friend or anything.

He knows that Sasuke is still codependent on him like a service dog and he's hoping that the academy would change it. Like Lady Tsunade told him, Sasuke also needed to be in touch with others.

He hoped he would grow out of that needy phase, and when he stumbled upon his home he saw Naruto having a hushed conversation with Shikamaru. They seemed to be talking about something important because both looked invested about the topic.

"So I overheard her say that to him, and I'm starting to get a little pissed off." Itachi heard Naruto say, the nine year old looked as mad as he could be. He however knew Shikamaru would be the voice of reason because of his Nara heritage.

"Honestly. As you should." Shikamaru replied and Itachi sighed, he forgot to account that it if was within reason Nara's will agree to a little chaos,

"They have been taking care of you for years and suddenly a topic this big is forgotten? Lost in translation? This also might be why Sasuke doesn't like you." Naruto blinked and clapped his hands together.

"See this is why we are best friends! This is making a lot of sense right now, and I'm about to go feral." Naruto said and Itachi decided to stop ease dropping and continue walking.

"Hello Naruto, Shikamaru." Both kids looked to Itachi, they stared at him before Shikamaru scoffed and Naruto rolled his eyes and looked away.

Itachi blinked but just continued his walk. Naruto and Shikamaru continuing their talk as Itachi opened and closed the door behind him. Sasuke was sitting in the living room with a classmate, they seemed to be doing their homework together.

"Hello Sasuke." Itachi said and Sasuke looked up.

"Welcome home Itachi." Sasuke gave a smile and then headed back to the homework. Itachi looked and Sasuke hummed.

"Oh this is Shino Aburame. He's my partner in class so we decided to do our homework together." Sasuke answered and Shino looked and raised his hands.

"So I got this for number seven." Shino spoke softly, Itachi sighed as he realized his brother was being at least a little more friendly.

It was calm in the house right now, and Mikoto insisted Shino stay for dinner. Shino agreed he thanked the woman for allowing him to stay as he and Sasuke finished up the homework. The door opened, and Naruto came walking in with Shikamaru trailing behind him.

"Can I have dinner at Shikamaru's tonight?" Naruto asked Mikoto and Fugaku but before they answered their was a snort.

"Oh you suddenly have manners to ask? You usually head over there anyways." Naruto blinked and looked to Sasuke.

"Sasuke, unless you want to die I suggest you shut up." Shikamaru said folding his arms, Sasuke scoffed and folded his arms.

"As if Naruto who does no training can beat me." Naruto blinked.

"Who said I wasn't doing any training? Just because I'm not training here doesn't mean I'm not training." Naruto said and Sasuke snorted.

"Whatever, I really don't understand why it as to be you anyways." Naruto clapped his hands.

"Finally! Something we can agree on!" Naruto said in agreement. While the Uchiha's looked taken aback.

It didn't look or sound good to any of them right now, and all Shikamaru did was hype Naruto up.

"Let them have Naruto." Shikamaru said as he smirked, Naruto looked to Sasuke.

"I didn't understand why I had to be taken in by this clan. It confused me especially since you all let me keep one last name and that was Namikaze." Naruto hummed marinating over the facts in his head.

"Since I was young I could feel like this clan tiptoed around me, like there was something floating above my head that I couldn't see, or something wrong that I didn't know." Mikoto looked worried, she actually looked sick to her stomach.

"This clan looked at me like I would be their downfall if not contained, and I didn't know why for the longest time." Naruto continued as Mikoto looked close to actually taking off to the bathroom.

"Sasuke overwhelming hate for me, he always looked at me like I stole something precious to him, that I was the reason for his suffering, the him calling me pathetic and he even said with my results I shouldn't be allowed to be in his clan." Naruto shrugged as Fugaku looked to Sasuke, Sasuke however stood his ground despite his father glaring at him.

"It was a mystery until about a year ago when I learned where my birthmarks came from." Naruto said and Shikamaru hummed.

"And they are cute so you better thank him or he'll get upset." Shikamaru said. Naruto smiled and Kurama hummed.

"That Nara has a good head on his shoulders."

"Though that wasn't even the worst part, the worst part is me waking up this morning, and I overhear Mikoto expressing her worry about me falling in love with Shikamaru when Itachi is my husband to be." Mikoto almost threw up hearing that she was heard this morning.

Naruto was fed up, Shikamaru placed a hand on his head and Shino looked at Sasuke. Placing his hands in his pocket Shino spoke.

"It is a legitimate concern, if you were already betrothed to Itachi and you fell in love with Shikamaru it would only cause trouble." Shikamaru looked to Shino.

"We are best friends! Can you not read the room?" Shikamaru said and Naruto closed his eyes.

"This clan wasn't honest with me the same way it was honest with its heir, and even their second son. I don't understand why you all hid this from me as if it didn't involve me." Naruto said and it was quiet, nobody had an answer as to why they didn't tell Naruto.

"Anyways I'm eating at Shikamaru's house, and there goes me asking for permission to do anything else. You all have a wonderful night." Naruto grabbed his school bag and shoes and headed out with Shikamaru.

Mikoto immediately headed to the bathroom to throw up whatever she ate for breakfast and Fugaku followed her only knowing she would start crying.

Itachi blinked and exhaled, he should've known it would not have been a peaceful night.

Sasuke looked to Shino and offered him a plate, which the bug user agreed too.

"I should've went feral." Naruto said to his best friend and Shikamaru replied back.

"Semi-feral got the job done." Shikamaru shrugged and Naruto agreed as they opened up the door to Shikamaru's home.
