The lizard looking vessel is an ugly kind, it has no color and the big mouth can't stop complaining. The eyes are rolling at me as if I make no sense whilst the existence of this being is completely unnecessary to this world.
"You better not give me that look, Segar"
The lizard stands up on its two legs looking down on me from the counter, "Is the Melody fading away?" Its voice is hoarse and light as if he just woke up and hasn't drank any water.
I never understand what the lizard ever tries to tell me, it's like he's speaking in a different language and it goes on my nerves, "I will strangle you to death, filth" I try to sound as fearsome as possible but the lizard only climbs up the ceiling on a tree branch looking down at me with its head leaned to the side and licking its eye with the long tongue.
"You wouldn't even if you could" He extends the words to his liking and his hoarse voice feels like he's scraping a fork against a plate.
I snort irritated, "you better fear for your life, lizard" I walk past him and my armor is clinging nicely for every step I take. I work to protect the village from evil, but I only have one year left of my military training. It has been a hard time but worth it, I would gladly die for my country as I know that I serve it well. My parents died before my seventh birthday when evil busted through an abandoned village far away, enslaved and murdered everyone. I am one of a few survivors, it's not much to brag about since it was a terrible fate for many others. I would rather not remember my suffering but others and mourn them.
The house is carved out in a tree very long ago, the floors are carved out with sympathy and the stairs leading up to each floor are well sculptured like the rest of the house. Walls are filled with vines and moss and the windows are empty, with only a curtain hindering flies and birds from flying inside. The lights source comes from the lighten torches on the walls and the candles on the table are wiggling back and forth. Old dusty books are placed on each shelf in the living room. I enter a fragrant hallway, smelling like wood and dried herbs. On the little table, there is a pile of coins in a jar and multicolored flowers in a vase. The furniture is in a dark shade of brown that matches up with the wood color. I enter the personal Living Room owned by our old apothecary. She is a fortune teller and weirdly enough doesn't speak at all only when it's necessary in her opinion. She is older than all the books on the bookshelf and looks like a sick dried grape. She is a mystery itself and her Living Room sends an unpleasant vibe. Books are all over the place, letters and recipes, I even smell the books and the magic they carry in undeciphered text. There is a big table with tons of herbs and a couple of mortar and pestles with different mixtures in them. There are bugs and liquids in all different sized jars on a big shelf reaching all the way up to the high ceiling. I stand Infront of it so that I can determine all the types of bugs, spiders, and flowers that are lined up in their special order. I can see living spiders crawling on their webs across some small twigs and leaves that are placed inside the jar to make the animals comfortable. There are even multiple light bugs flying around looking like some small lamps. Some different magical venomous bugs. I have no idea how she is able to find them and catch them, they are rare and not seen very often. But she uses them for good, she is a healer and helps us.
I turn around and see her stand behind me with her strange eyes and rash skin. She leans on a tree cane with a silver grip and her white blown hair is much like a witch. I blink not sure if I'm hallucinating or not. I didn't hear her even though I have a gift, unsure which it is. Both her eyes are different colors and her gift is healing just by the sound of her voice. That is probably why she is so quiet. She only heals if she is asked to. Once she even tried to cut off her own tongue because she didn't want to end up in the hands of evil, that would've destroyed the entire world and all its magnificent dimensions. Segar is one of the evil entities but lives with humans to feel loved, they seek closeness and awareness to be able to live, that is why most of them end up with the evil, easily manipulated creatures. They wield the power of strength and immunity against some magical casts.
"Damn Dorothy, do you always gotta be so creepy?"
She shrugs and walks away, disappearing. This old lady also goes on my nerves, almost everyone in this household. Dorothy, Dominic, Morel, Martha, Segar. I walk out on Dorothy's balcony leading out into the beautiful jungle with an enormous sea leaping out in the wild landscape filled with danger wherever you look. The sea also wields its own magical power. The sun is hot in the day but when the moon arrives everything turns cold and the dangerous night animals come out of their lairs.
I sweep a pair of climbing plants out of my face and lean my body on the tree railing on the balcony. The village is hundreds of meters below and huge trees give it some sort of protection. The sun is on its way down filling the sky in a dense pinkish color. In the beautiful sky, I see multiple tiny black flying dots in the sky over the sea. I watch them with curiosity as they fly closer and closer every second. They become bigger and bigger with each second. The panic grows stronger and I back a few steps into the door frame. It can't be. It mustn't be them. I stand paralyzed in my spot watching them fly in a swarm until I can finally move my legs, I run out of Dorothy's place trying to find everyone else. The time is short and at any moment those creatures can kill the entire village. We must kill them before they arrive. An ear-deafening sound makes me fall to the ground; I will never be able to get used to this alarming sound all the time the village is in danger. I cuss out loud, now yet another war will begin.
Thank you so much for reading. Please share your opinions about the prologue, but this is basically not everything. More will arrive soon :33
