The last year of middle school is usually an exiting year for many. It was a time for people to really think about their futures. Some aspired to be doctors, policemen, but the profession a large amount of the newer generation had was the goal to be a hero. In a world where 80% of the population had some kind of power, also known as quirks, it was only natural for the profession of "hero" to rise. It was a goal many had committed to. So why was Mob sitting at his desk, pondering about what to do with his future with such an amazing opportunity? He didn't know himself.
"Still cant think of anything, Shigeo?"
Dimple floated down to where the troubled boy sat, pencil hovering above his paper.
"I still can't think about what I want to do in the future." He said blankly.
Dimple scoffed. "I've already told you. Becoming a Hero is ideal! You can become the number one, you can almost become a god!"
Mob had prepared for this response from Dimple. Dimple had hung around him for a little more than a year now, so this wasn't anything out of the ordinary. His ghost friend began his usual rant of becoming a god. Mob tuned him out, lost in thought. To be honest, being a Hero hadn't really been one of his interests. But yet, a part of him wanted to become a hero, and save peoples lives. But at the same time, he knew that he would have to use his powers against others for that. He decided to dwell on his future later. The future applications weren't due until next week, anyway. He plopped onto his futon, staring up at his roof. He decided to ask his friends for advice tomorrow. That might be easier.
"The future, huh?" Ritsu asked, walking alongside Mob. It was rare for Ritsu to walk to school with him, due to the fact he was usually busy with the student council. "Well, Do you have any ideas on what you want to do?"
Mob thought for a second.
"Not really."
Ritsu sighed. "Well, you still have the rest of the week to figure it out, so just take time to think about it, alright?"
"What do you plan on doing Ritsu?"
The question took Ritsu by surprise.
"To be honest, I don't know either. My quirk is nothing too special, just basic telekineses. Your quirk, on the other hand-" Ritsu was cut off by mob.
"My quirk doesn't make me special. I'm just the same as everyone else. Besides, a quirk doesn't define a person." Mob stated. "Also, I'm Technically quirkless, remember? I have the extra joint in my foot." Mob looked at his hand. "My powers don't even make sense in the first place."
Ritsu remembered the Doctors confusion when Mob had manifested power without actually having a quirk. It was a mystery, that's for sure. His brothers powers included Telekinesis, but also had so many more uses than his own quirk. Besides, the sheer amount of power his brother had was insane. To be honest, Ritsu was a little Jealous. Ritsu wanted to walk the path of a hero, but learned early on his quirk was very limited. He had given up on that dream. Even though it was technically possible for him to become a hero anyway, Ritsu had lost interest. Still, a small part of him wanted to live the life of a hero.
Ritsu's thoughts were stopped by Mob reminding him they had arrived at school. Ritsu waved goodbye to Mob and headed to class.
To Mob, it seemed the future was all everyone wanted to talk about at the time. Telepathy club had already thought theirs out, with most of them wanting jobs like Doctors and Engineers. Some of the body improvement club wanted to become wrestlers, or fitness coaches. Mob sighed as he walked out of school that day, feeling overwhelmed.
He decided to head to Reigens office for advice.
"So you don't know what you wanna do, huh?" Reign leaned back in his chair, deep in thought.
