Was he really about to do this?
Was he really about to leave the Beach?
Leave the thing he put so much work into?
Leave you?

He never felt such sadness for someone before; not even during his hospital days where he spilled heartbreaking news.

Never.

He never realized how easy it was to fall for someone, to let someone in, to want to care for someone.

He pushed people away for so long.
He acquainted himself with others only if it benefitted him.

But you, you caught his attention instantly, and since then, he struggled to change his focal point.

You were the person he was willing to sacrifice himself for — something he never thought he'd be up for doing.

You changed him.
You attracted him.
And he fell for you.

That's why it hurt a hell of a lot more to see you droop in disbelief.
He physically saw you lose faith, right before his eyes.

He hated himself for not trying harder, for letting you walk away and slip from his hold.

Because if he fought for you, you would've been at his side, walking towards the exit he found days before.
A side gate.

He had the cards.
A single step beyond and he'd be free.

He slid off his blue wristband, glad to finally have the chance to throw it away. "It's time to say goodbye to these too."

"Don't you feel sorry for them," Kuina asks out of nowhere, though the guilt in her chest isn't new. "Arisu and Y/n."

Chishiya covered up the hurt that crossed his features. "Feel sorry?"

"Yes," she confirmed, voice low. "I feel really sorry for them."

She shifted uncomfortably.
Chishiya sent her a feigned look of surprise.

"Is there anything we can't do in order to survive?"
It's about survival.
"If you're so worried, then you should go help them, Kuina."

After a beat of silence, Kuina sighed reluctantly.
She didn't want to spend another night at the Beach.

She was ready to leave, so she approached the secret exit they had found prior.
No one paid attention to this side gate; it was a small archway and the perfect escape.

Apparently, everyone but you didn't think twice to label the gate as "suspicious".

Because you were right there, in their way

"Stop," you ordered, arms crossed over your chest as you stood in their path.
You put on a strong face, but Chishiya knew better and he saw right through it.

Was that fear in your eyes?
A streak of hesitation?
Whatever it was, he had to push it away.

"Y/n, step out of the way."
"I can't do that."

Chishiya had to keep this encounter short, he wouldn't let himself hurt you anymore.
"If this is about Arisu, I can't do anything to help. You know-"

"Shut up!"
Your shout is loud and it successfully cuts off the blond.

You then look around uneasily.
"This isn't about him, and this isn't about the situation you put him in," you said, voice scratchy and harsh.

You're putting a barricade around your emotions, trying to lock them away.
At least, you are trying to.

"What is it then ," Chishiya asks in a ruder way than he meant.

You swallowed, looking frightened.
Glancing around, you take the smallest step away from the exit you blocked.

Why do you look so afraid?

"I can't let you leave... because you. will. die. And I won't be able to live with myself if you do."

What are you saying?
You don't want him to die?
Why?
He practically broke you.

Why are you stopping him?

"Y/n, move, please," he pleads, voice softening at the stress in your face.

He froze in place when you reached for him, grabbing the wrist band from his hand.
The touch sent sparks to his heart and his chest warmed.

But all it took was one throw, one laser, and one flinch for him to realize the situation.

You looked at him with shaking pupils.
"We can't leave, Shiya..."
