~Peggys POV~

"Sweetie?"

shit.

I slowly look at Mrs. Laurens hoping she would believe the crazy story we were about to tell her.

"M-mom I can explain!" John shoved the letter in his pocket

"You got a lot to explain John." She looked at the glass all over the floor

"Okay so-" I was cut off by john

"I broke the window because I was bored."

I almost break my neck turning my head in his direction.

Mrs. Laurens takes a deep breath to calm herself down

"John it's 2:10 in the morning and this is what you do when you're bored?"

"Yep."

"Please clean it up then and then go to bed. I will find someone to replace it tomorrow. You are lucky you got me in a good mood and without your father around." She pointed at the glass in the sink and floor

"Yeah."

"Goodnight you two." She walked back into her room and closed the door behind her.

"What. The. Fuck." I am now actually angry this time.

He ignores me to grab a broom

"Why didn't you just tell her? She could have-"

"Look I don't know- I didn't need to." John sweeps some glass on the pickup thing that came with the broom

"What the hell you mean you didn't need to? This person could actually be plotting to fucking murder you!" Maybe raising my voice could help him hear better.

"They just broke in its fine." He said like it didn't bother him

I can't fucking believe this!

"FINE?! Nothing about what just happen is fucking 'fine'! They were in the same building as James and your mom!"

"They were probably drunk."

"And they were strong enough to break the fucking window? Yeah right. Then they got in and saw you holding a gun and they stopped moving completely not even shaking? Finally, they were able to talk to you not even sounding tired? For fuck sake john they gave you a nickname!"

John stayed quiet sweeping up the glass after he finished he opened the door to the outside where the shadow person was only minutes ago.

"Hold up- You are really going to go outside right after that person was there? Do you have a death wish?"

"I guess." He shrugged and I pushed myself in front of him

"John are you okay?"

"Probably." He tried getting past me

"John, what is going on? Am I missing something? Do you know them?"

"Nothing, no, and no." He tired again but I stayed as a wall to the outside

"Fine just go to sleep and we can put away the glass tomorrow like when you can actually see outside."

"Okay." He put the bag of broken glass next to the garbage can

What is up with John?

I mean I have never seen John do anything like this especially a gun or someone breaking in but I don't know I expected he would want to talk about it with me.

Maybe he is just overwhelmed we can talk tomorrow.

I walk to the guest room while he walks to his room.

Once I lay on the bed I am still questioning everything that just happened. Who wouldn't? I feel like I did something wrong but I know I didn't but John doesn't want to talk to me and jeez that really hurts. I recite the letter in my head getting more and more disgusted every time.

Whoever broke in is fucked up in so many ways. But for some reason, John is defending him. Out of all the people, john could defend he chose a stalker that broke into his house at 1 in the morning.

~Next morning~

~Johns POV~

Right after I read that weird creepy letter I stepped on glass but it felt like nothing. No pain at all I only found out when I tried to sleep because my foot was bleeding and there was a fairly big piece of glass covered in blood but even then no pain.

So that was the best sleep of my life.

Just kidding it's hard to sleep trying to find out why you can't feel the pain of bleeding out.

Anyway, after a not so amazing sleep, I walked into the guest room to say hi to Peggy but they weren't there. But a piece of paper was on the bed

Dear john

Hope you actually find out how someone breaking into your house is a bad thing. They could have murdered you and everyone in the house but eh whatevers right? In your words "They just broke in". Sorry if I sound salty I ate salt and washed it down with saltwater. See you at school so we can talk about what happened.
-100% salt

What are they talking about?

I check the time

4:47 am

Wait when did Peggy leave then?

School starts at 6 so I am making a pretty good time.

I go to check on James and Martha. They both were sleeping calmly in their bunk beds. Then I go to check on Mary and Henry in the room next door and both of them were also asleep. I wish I could just sleep in.

Passing the kitchen showed a bag of...... glass? I guess someone cleaned up. I wonder when we are getting a new window soon I don't wanna give up the pee kitchen.

~Timeskip brought to you by dust~

Since I forgot to get mom to sign the hope squad paper thing I got her to sign it right before she left to go to work.

I finished food for everyone before running out the door before I would be late.

"BOO!" Peggy jumped out of nowhere

"AH!"

We both started laughing and naturally started walking to school waving a quick bye to the security guards

"Haha- Did you finally change your mind?" Peggy asked

"On what?"

"Someone breaking in is okay?" Peggy asked giving me a confused stare

"No- Who said it wasn't? That person is crazy." Just thinking about them breaking in gives me goosebumps

Peggy gave me an even more confused face

"But just yesterday you said it was okay."

"I didn't."

"You don't remember?" Peggy asked

"Not really."

"What do you remember?"

"Just- Up to the point of me reading half the letter."

"Woah-"

"Don't know if this could help us in any way but uh when I was trying to sleep I found out I had a piece of glass that was in my foot and it was bleeding a lot but I didn't even feel it at all." Explaining it out loud makes it sound even weirder

"Weird."

~Timeskip brought to you by paper~

When we finally got to school it seemed a lot louder like you could hear the things moving in people's back bags while their footsteps made their own sort of rhythm

I guess I could be going crazy but it's- nevermind.

Saying goodbye to Peggy was dramatic like always.
