It didn't take long for things to be ramped up in terms of stress in the academy, at least for me. I was bombarded with questions regarding Apollyon. Not only that but the pure power of four angels and a fallen was almost guaranteed to attract some form of demon.
I would often take to the skies around the academy, patrolling like a guard in his tower. What I didn't expect was the demon to make a move while we five were out and about, looking for some form of criminal activity to lay prey to.
We were high above the docks, looking into the city, bullheads passing around us, careful to avoid the bodies of steel and stone floating in their path. Apollyon was a small bit more attuned to the populace than I was at this time, and as such, she would handle any interaction with the general populace, including the bullheads.
We remained in that spot for but a few minutes, which brought attention to the high volume of air and sea traffic. It would seem as if the nation was preparing for something, be it war or otherwise.
The end of those few minutes was brought about when I spied two humanoids on a rooftop, looking in our direction without all too much discretion. They were certainly curious, perhaps dangerously so, as with but a single glance I identified them as demons, not particularly powerful, but definitely nothing to scoff at.
I acted quickly, breaking the sound barrier with a single flap of my wings as I practically shot at them. I landed on the rooftop a meter away from them. One was male, the other female, with curved horns coming from their forehead down towards their cheeks, thin purple tails flicking about behind them.
The female had pure black hair that reached down to her mid-back when left naturally but had it swept over the left side of her face so only the longer strands reached their full length. She had deep purple eyes, swirling with emotion and desire. her body was thin and slender, aside from the obvious assets of the fairer sex which were... you're mortal, you know what I am to say.
The male was much the same, save for a more athletic build to the females, much like an Olympic swimmer's body, muscled but smooth and not overly bulky. He also had shorter white hair that he had swept back. It was only a few inches long at best.
Aside from the differences mentioned the two looked similar in age and appearance as if they were siblings or even twins. It mattered quite little at that moment, however, as my duty would outstrip my curiosity. I was much more powerful than these two, for sure.
It was an easy enough job to lift the female using magic with my left hand and grab the male by his throat, with the intent to force them to repent. By this point, my companion and students had joined me and were simply witnessing me.
Male: Wait!
He coughed that word out. I was used to demons trying to beg for their continued existence, but rarely would they hold themselves to anything they may say. However, some emotion was resonating off of these two other than the usual fear or despair... determination.
The binds I had the female in were made of angelic light, which burns away at a demon much like a vampire in the sun or wood in a flame. Her pain was apparent but her nor his will even faltered. This piqued my curiosity.
Female: Please! We ju-just want to talk!
Apollyon: Come on Elios, let's hear them out, I doubt whatever they have to say will do much to dissuade you either way, so you'll sate your curiosity too
Virgil: No! Absolutely not! Let us kill them and be done with it!
Empyrean crossed her arms. I couldn't read her, she was being very... conservative while it seemed as if Adimus held no strong opinion
Apollyon: Hush now, little dove, they may have something of use to us
I relented. Apollyon was right. They to either be in such a poor situation they would risk talking to a Justiciar, let alone an angel, or they were just incredibly brave. I let them both down, Virgil, summoning her weapon for safety. I did a similar thing, summoning my spear, though my reason was to be intimidating, not for protection.
Elios: Speak, and speak fast
Helios: I am Helios, and that is my twin sister, Lumos. We are demons of desire... and we need your help
Empyrean: Demons of desire?
Apollyon: An incubus and a succubus. This is interesting
She was right. These demons had little reason to ask an angel for aid
Lumos: The demon that took this planet is our mother, and for the betterment of everyone she needs to be killed
Helios: She has plans to destroy everything, from devils to gods. Of course... we as we are, cannot accept that
Lumos: We will do anything you demand of us, as long as she ends up dead
Virgil: We can't be considering this, can we?
I glanced back at Virgil, an indication to hold her tongue for now
Elios: What... is your mother's name?
Helios: Izrail, her name is Izrail
I let my spear drop slightly. Izrail is... was an Arch-Angel long ago, about the time Aberial was a gladiator. That would be... at least forty thousand years ago? She was so powerful, so vigilant in her duties, that eventually, she burnt herself out to a point a devil tempted her, made her his own. She didn't remain like that long, only a few months by the most generous of accounts, but she had fallen further than Apollyon, she had succumbed to the princes, princess, kings, queens, whatever the demons have as their ruling body, and she rose the ranks of their society.
As of late she had broken away from the ruling body of demons and devils and formed her own debaucherous order. It was within reason for her to be able to do as the twins claim, it would take millennia, having to kill each god and angel individually, but possible.
Apollyon: Elios... we... we may be in over our heads
Virgil: Excuse me?
Elios: Izrail is... she is older than even Aberial. Some date her back to one of the first Arch-Angels... and she fell all the way to demon-hood. She is unimaginably powerful, a blight on angels universe-wide. What these twins claim here objective to be is totally within her grasp. Still, I have a job to do
Apollyon: You're kidding right?
Elios: No, I am not. I will have to eliminate this demon. Where is she?
Lumos: We... don't know. We have long since been exiled from her court after we had a little too much fun around the place. We know she resides in a massive whale-like grim that flies along with Salem, though the Grimm were not her creation
Apollyon: Right, the Grimm are the result of the god of darkness being a spiteful prick
Huh, that's interesting. It changes little though, gods of darkness suffer very similarly to an angels light, their creations even more so.
