"How are we going to take the Company down? There's absolutely no way to figure out their information. Trust me, I've tried," Natalia glanced around the table at everyone who gathered to make a plan. The square table housed four people, all of them ready to go to war.
"Well, as I've said, I have a way," Damon, who was sitting across from Natalia, crossed his arms.
"Ah, yes. Your mysterious way that involves Natalia," Ian spoke, sitting on the right of Natalia, and nudging her. "No one knows what it is."
"I do," Liam spoke up. He sat across from Ian, face nonchalant and unfazed "It's simple really, if you think about it."
"Well, why don't you explain this simple plan to us, Liam?" Ian challenged.
"Oh, well I think Damon wants to tell it, cause it's his plan you know," Liam's facade dropped for a second before he played it off.
"It's ok, Liam, you can tell it," Damon's mouth turned up in a small smile, amused at Liam's situation.
"Fine, I have no idea what your plan is. Please do tell," Liam slightly blushed in embarrassment. Natalia squinted her eyes as she noticed him readying his phone, but she brushed it off as him taking notes in case he forgot, as Liam clearly has a busy mind.
"Liar," Damon accused, but the lighthearted smile on his face showed he wasn't being serious.
"Ok, Damon, what's your plan?" Liam questioned, leaning back in his seat.
"It's a little complicated. We all know that Natalia is an Assassin that works for the Company, right?"
Everyone nods their heads.
"We need to use that to our advantage. As long as we can make an excuse for this mission, the Company still trusts Natalia. To an extent, at least. Natalia needs to earn their complete trust, enough to know more. That's the part I don't know. The Company hardly trusts anyone, only their advisors, or so I've heard. Natalia needs to become one of those advisors. Do you know how to do that, Natalia?" Damon barely made any expression, until the end, where his face held hope.
Natalia confirmed his hopes, "I do. It'll be extremely hard, and potentially painful, but I can do it."
"What do you mean painful?" Ian furrowed his eyebrows.
"To become an advisor, you have to endure an hour of torture, and if you yield, you are not to be trusted. It's their way of stopping any rats from getting into the trusted circle. They also mentally attack you until your head hurts for a week. They make this very known to everyone so no one who is against them will do it. So far it's been fool-proof." Natalia shrugs like it's no big deal, but everyone around her was shocked at the extent the Company would go.
"Ok, so we need to come up with a new plan," Damon came out of his shock more quickly than the others.
"No, we don't. I'm doing it," Natalia interrupted Ian, who was about to speak.
"What? Natalia, no! That's an hour of physical torture, and even more mentally. We are not letting you do it," Damon firmly shook his head, but Natalia ignored him. She had already made up her mind, nothing would convince her otherwise.
"I've been through worse torture, Damon, this would be nothing. If it guarantees my family's safety, and many others, I'm doing it. You can't say anything that will stop me," Natalia stood up, placing her hands on the table and leaning on them. "I leave tomorrow at dawn, I expect an excuse as to why I've been missing, or I will go in without one and face much worse than an hour of torture."
Natalia strode out of the room, no doubt leaving the others gaping at each other. No matter the consequences, she would do what it takes.
