One year. It has been one year since my new life started. A new life being reborn, but I wasn't being reborn, I was simply discovering the truth, and combining it with my destiny. The one year I spent with him, the one year I discovered who I really was, brought more chaos and torment than in my entire life, but most importantly it brought danger. He led a dangerous life and my destiny was to be alongside him, as he continued to save his people... his kind.
Through the twenty-seven years of my life and becoming the founder and CEO of my company, I never once thought I would be pulled away from it. But I was, and a part of me welcomed the adventure he gave me, I gave myself, after all being born and raised in my father's family wasn't always pleasing or a pleasant experience for me. The woman who raised me wasn't my mother, but she was, she raised me, cared for me and worried for me, when my birth-mother didn't. My father made his mistake and I was the one who paid the price the most. While my father had everything... riches and fame, I didn't want any of it. I wanted to live and build my own life. Being the only daughter of the most respected man in business, but it brought it's misfortunes. It made me seem as a trophy to win; every man had a cupid's arrow stick in his ass, but I had enough of it. I made myself a woman who followed and lived by her own rules, something my half-brother, Jackson Kwon, hated.
Years passed and I built my empire, but I guess fate had something else in mind for me. The stories of the creatures from storybooks, folktales and fairytales told to children on sleepless nights became reality for me and threw me into the abyss of the supernatural... a world of dragons.
It was the night of the gala celebration of my company's expansion when my strange sightings became real and for the first time in a very long time... I felt scared; fear ...that emotion I never felt in over a decade now took control over me.. An emotion I had long forgotten to feel, now wrapped around me like a death shroud.
I never thought one day I would meet a dragon, let alone become the mate of one... the last dragon prince was my mate. He entered my dreams first; deep seafoam eyes with hints of emerald and black invaded my dreams, claiming me.
But he was just a man in my dreams or so I thought, because then I met this man, this dragon prince, he was the man from my dreams. It wasn't love at first sight or a dreamy fairytale I read in books, but a strange toxic attraction and it screamed for pleasurable moments. His touches were electric, setting my insides on fire and his eyes.. Those brilliant eyes that held such a unique colour pulled me into his dangerous, yet mystical world, where dragons soared the skies, such marvellous and fascinating creatures that flew onto the high skies and breathed majestic flames of incredible power.
The colour of their flame was the colour of their aura.. their soul, he taught me that, along with many other words of wisdom and forbidden nights. While we were mates, we were dangerous for one another; a toxicity that almost brought the end of his world... and mine.
Fate brought me to set things right again, to give back what was taken from the dragons. He told me of the past and how dragons were forced to become nothing but a myth. At first they searched for a realm to call their own, gathering wise words helps them fight against the darkness and grow themselves. Treasures were something they wanted to keep to themselves, items or tidbits of knowledge they owned and no other creatures did. Everyone had some greed in their nature.
But, it was a gem of unspeakable power that was the most valuable to them, the water dragons found it in the depths of the ocean, inside a long lost and forgotten cavern, he told me but it was stolen by a human... my kind. The artefact that imbues unlimited magic into your very soul, so very powerful you would leak magic from your fingertips and that's why the human took it, because power called onto the greedy. This human was once their friend, but evil swept through his veins greedily, silent, yet powerful.
The worst thing about betrayal, it doesn't come from your enemy, but the one you have trusted so deeply, the one you considered as a friend.. perhaps even more..
Humans had taken the reins, claiming themselves as the most powerful rulers, the not only killed but also slaved any dragon insight after the war, and so the last remaining dragons, including their dying Dragon King and his family, hid from the surface of the world, afraid to cross paths with humans again.
His father passed and now it was up to the Prince to return his people to their original glory...
While I understood the reasons behind why he hated humans, my kind, I did hate the harshness he treated me with. Fight, scream, kiss, then pleasure and it all over again, we were toxic together, but apart we were miserable, because half of my soul already belonged to him and half of his, belonged to me. He was also the only one who tried to understand what I had become.
I ran away again, and again from what fate had brought me, only to be found in his arms again. To the humans, my family and my empire, I was a dead girl, I guess something my half-brother always wanted, but I wasn't the one to give up so easily. Like my mate's father said as his dying words..
What's taken or lost will return... be it in the same form.. or another...
