I've always wondered what being in love felt like. Do you get butterflies every time your with your significant other? Do you always smile when you think about them? Do you love to look at them even if they're at their worst? It's always been in my mind, but I've never been in love.
That is until I met Brody Mitchell. The captain of the football team, star student, and most popular guy in school. He has it all. When he asked me out in 10th grade, I wasn't expecting to be together 2 years later. I figured it would just be a fling. I was wrong.
I, Katie Henderson, am completely and utterly in love with Brody. The way he smiles. The way he crinkles his nose when he laughs. When he looks at me, I melt. He knows exactly what to do to make me feel loved.
I was sitting at the cafeteria table with a few of my friends when I feel a pair of hands land on my eyes. I reached up and grabbed a hold of them. They were soft, but masculine.
"Guess who." I heard a very low, sexy voice say to me.
"Makenzie? I don't know. Who?" I said with a hint of sarcasm in my voice. Of course I knew who it was.
"It's me. I don't sound like a girl do I? You're horrible at this." As soon as he let his hands fall, I turn to look in the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen. He swings his legs onto mine, and sits in my lap.
"Hi Brody. What brings you over here? Don't you have some practice to get to?" I said glaring up at him.
He takes my face in his hands and looks into my eyes. "It's lunch." He replied with a duh tone. "I'm here to eat." He says as he takes my cookie I got from Subway 10 minutes earlier and starts munching on it.
I reached up and took the cookie away from him. "Don't use that tone of voice with me." I replied with a smirk playing on my lips. "Now if you don't mind, could you get your ass off of me. You're a little heavy."
"Hey, you did it first. And I'm not that heavy. It's all muscle." He defended. He got up off of me and sat in the seat next to me. "I really do have practice. Coach decided since a couple of guys were late this morning, we'd run a few extra miles." I looked at him to see him staring at his best friend. Kyle Vasquez. He was tall, with broad shoulders and beautiful green eyes.
"Hey, I wanted Starbucks. Can you really blame me?" He held his hands up in defense.
"I totally agree with you. Can't live without caffeine." I reached up to give him a high five.
Two years ago, when me and Brody first started dating, I was really worried whether his friends would like me or not. I would sit at the table with them and try not to be awkward. I'm not worried about it anymore. They're like my brothers now.
"Stop with the flirting. Starbucks is for girls anyways." He said directed to Kyle.
"Babe, leave him alone. He wanted Starbucks. It's not like you haven't done it before." I told him while I just stared at him.
"I did it for you, and I'm not doing it again." At that, I sat there gaping at him. How dare he? I love my Starbucks.
Brody gets up from the chair and leans down to kiss the temple of my head. "As much as I'd like to stay, we need to get going. Have fun baby." He says then turns around and starts walking away.
"Oh, and bye Chelsea." He said glancing over his shoulder waving.
Chelsea Cook is my best friend. Our moms were best friends when they were teenagers. They ended up moving across the street from each other. They did everything together, include get pregnant together. My mom had me in February and Chelsea was born not even a month later in March. We've been close ever since.
She's someone any girl would be jealous of. She has long, blonde hair with gorgeous blue eyes, and she really knows how to dress. She was wearing a denim shirt with a cream colored scarf along with black legging, gray leg warmers, and the cutest boots.
"Bye ugly." She replied not looking up from her food.
"So what are you going tonight? It's Friday. Colton's having this big party at his house. You down?" I asked Chels with enthusiasm.
"Only if you get ready with me." She said as she looked up at me and grinned really big at me.
"Okay, meet me at my house at 5. We can get ready then. The parties at 7. I really need to get to Mr. Klines class. He said he needed to talk to me about the project we had. Blah blah blah. I think he hates me." I said getting up to throw away my trash.
"Sucks for you. Have fun." She says and sticks her tongue out at me.
"Whatever. Bye loser." I replied back with a grin.
I grabbed my book bag and my way to the trash and threw away my stuff. I stuffed my phone that was in my pocket into my bag and started towards the class.
He will be the death of me.
