The sounds of shuffling and whispering can be heard around me. I recognized one voice of my Por. I slowly opened my eyes fluttering because of the light coming into the room from the window. When I finally began to see the figures in front there was a man speaking to my father that I had not seen before.

"Son? It's okay. You're safe!" I attempted to speak, but all I could do was cough. My por rushes over with a glass of water and brings it to my lips. It felt refreshing to have a better taste in my mouth than whatever was bitter and sour lingering in my mouth.

"Por? My head hurts..." he looks at me sadly, "you fainted and you hit your head off the pavement." I thought about it for a moment, but why on earth would I faint. This has never happened before. "Por did Uncle get angry about the letter I gave him?" My father's face changed and his eyes flashed between both my eyes like he was trying to piece together something. His eyes finally stopped and he let out a sigh.

"It's fine, son. He is no longer going to be a problem for us." Thank God for that I am sick and tired of hearing my parents fighting over this throughout the years. "Do I have to stay here? Or can I go to my dorm? I want to attend classes..." "you can stay here for a few days more. You don't need to go during the first week!" "Por, this the first time I'm in university... I want to experience everything!" "I already let the course coordinator know you will be absent.. can you not? You can go tomorrow, okay?" "I have to go to the hazing event today, or they will get angry at me for not showing up. Please, drop me off at the school?"

"Son, really?" "Yup. I know for sure Aim is probably concerned that I'm not in class today. Have you found my cellphone?" He lets out a sigh as he quickly goes into his jacket pocket and hands me the phone. A dozen of text messages and phone calls from Aim. He is such a mother hun that one. I quickly text him a message of reassurance. He left the room to speak to the other man again.

Not even two minutes later my phone is ringing. "Hey Kong, what the hell happened to you? Why aren't you at campus? Are you okay? Why did you just text me saying you are alive?" I choked back a laugh at his excessive behaviour. "I'm fine. My dad told me I fainted and hit my head. Supposedly, I have a concussion. My head is spinning like crazy, but don't tell my dad or he won't let me come today!" "What the hell, Kong! Don't come. You need to rest!" "I heard too many stories about the hazers in our department. I can't miss it!" Aim hesitation is a clear sign he understands my plight. "Fine, but you tell me if you feel sick in anyway. Understand!" "Yes, Mae...." I grumbled. "Good boy!" I hung up on him as my por entered the room again.

"Here is your school clothes. I will wait for you downstairs." He throws them onto my bed and leaves without saying another word. I slowly make way out of my bed. Trying not to fall over as my head still spins like crazy and throbs.

It takes me a while before I could get all my clothes on. I don't remember how I managed to make it down stairs. When I arrived in the kitchen my father was sitting at the island with a coffee speaking to my Mae.

"I know. We need to keep this from him.." Mae puts her hand on Por's shoulder. "We have to be quiet... I think I heard him coming downstairs." Strange conversation to walk in on. I have been seeing them fighting over Uncle for so many years why now are they whispering about something.

"Son! Miriam made you something to eat. Please do and take your meds first." I nodded my head as I sit beside them at the island counter. Ugh.. more pills than normal. Hopefully, at least these new pills will stop this annoying spinning in my head.

"Mae, stop looking at me like that!" "Like what?" "Like I'm going to break at any moment. I'm aware that I must of scared you with my fainting. However you don't need to stare at my head with your laser eyes." I smirked. She just get me up from her chair and forces a big hug and kiss on my forehead.
