When we first met, we were in first grade. Zayn was a transfer student, but of course with our first grade brains, we didn't know what that meant.
By first impression, Zayn was a cute little white boy who seemed too shy to talk.
"Class, this is Zayn. He's new here...so say hello and make sure he feels welcomed." The teacher smiled and Zayn continued to stare at the ground.
"Hi, Zayn." Our class said, but Zayn didn't look up at us.
"Would anyone like to show Zayn around?" Our teacher asked, and I excitedly put my hand up.
"I will!" I shouted and everyone looked at me.
"Oh, Esmeralda. That's so sweet of you." The teacher walked Zayn over to my desk and I noticed the empty desk next to mine. Zayn sat next to me but didn't say anything. He just stared at his desk.
"I'm Esmeralda. Nice to meet you, Zayn." I smiled, putting my hand out. Zayn didn't look up at me or give any reaction at all.
Maybe he didn't like to talk. I thought, and shrugged before pulling my notebook out. I went to the back and turned to the last page.
'Hi. I'm Esmeralda.' I put on the paper and then put it in front of Zayn on his desk.
I had recently learned how to introduce myself so I had been practicing a lot at home.
Zayn looked at the paper but then I realized something.
What if he couldn't read? I thought, and my eyes widened.
I started to panic but Zayn picked my pencil up and I watched him write his name below mine.
'ZAYN'
His handwriting wasn't as good as mine but I could read it so that was all that mattered.
Zayn looked at me and I smiled.
He looked at me!
And I knew right then, we were going to be best friends.

LobisomemThis is the first book I've reuploaded as of 2023. As this was an impulsive decision, I will have to write more on the topics and idea of this story later. I don't remember anything about this story but by looking at the tags...it'll be interesting...
