Chapter song: 'The Trick to Life" by The Hoosiers

LAST TIME WITH SVEN...
As soon as his fist came blasting towards my face I caught his fist in my hand. I twisted it back to the point where it left him on his knees, he was saying things like: 'stop', 'ow', and 'fugly bastard'. I bent down so my mouth was next to his ear, "I don't think I'm the one who needs to watch their back."
With that I let go of his hand and went to take the last remaining sip of my tea, retrieve my sun glasses, and pay. Landon had gotten up and was standing off to the side, he did nothing when I walked right past him to go through the door.
I start to make my way to the school not even bothering getting out my cane, it was just too annoying.

After having to have to do all of school work the night before in my dreams, today is Sunday; the day I have to myself. There was something that still bothered me there was a dream that snaked it's way through the wall I'd built to keep predicting dreams out, it was of me being pushed by something but someone stopped me from falling. Of course it was pitch black and I couldn't see what was happening.
I walked down the small spiral stairs that lead up to the loft area, my 'room'. Rudy's snores could be heard all the way down the hallway. I took a quick shower and changed into a dark blue v-neck and jeans.
Since I moved in with him, Rudy and I had a mutual understanding; if he left me alone I'd leave him alone. So, it wasn't surprising when I came out of the bathroom and heard him in the kitchen looking through cupboards, looking for food, and I was ignored. I walked past the kitchen doorway and to the corner, where the spiral stairs were, and went up to retrieve my stuff and a jacket. There was no way I was going outside without a jacket in northern Indiana in winter.
I heard the microwave beeping while I opened the door of the apartment. There was a lot of noise in the landing of the second floor, where I was. From what I gathered someone was moving in on this floor. There was another door that opened and closed, the apartment that was across from Rudy's.
I went near the edge of the stairs, that lead to the front door of the apartment building, about to descend. When simultaneously there was a yell from down stairs and in slow motion I heard a whoosh, the type of sound an object would make moving through the air. Within a millisecond I felt something hit my shoulder knocking me off balance.
Then there were hands on my shoulders pulling me back from what I'm guessing is the edge of the stairs.
"Deja vu..." I mumbled.
What just happened is eerily similar to that dream I had that had some how broken through my metaphorical wall that keeps out predicting dreams. I had been pushed and then someone grabbed me by the shoulders and stopped me from falling down the stairs.
Then I relized I had been standing there for a few seconds doing nothing. "Uh, thanks-who are you?"
"Uh... I'm Sam. Your neighbor."
"Well uh thanks, I'm Sven."
There was a pause before her response. "Do you always almost fall down the stairs or something?"
"Wha-? What are you talking about?"
Sam laughs, "Nothing. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I made a move to leave.
"Wait," Sam said. I stop and turned in her direction.
"Do you go to Clay High School?"
I nodded, "Yeah, why?'
"You look familiar. I go there too, I think we share a class or two."
I smile, "I wouldn't even know if we did."
"Heh... Right.. You're blind. Eh, sorry..."
I laugh, "It's fine. I was just heading to a diner, I'll see you around," I say jokingly.
"Oh actually I was just headed there. Mind if I join you?"
Do I mind?
"Sure, why not?" I say with a shrug and a half smile.
We go down the stairs my hand is on the rail all the way down. We went out to the sidewalk and start toward the diner. I'm still baffled; how was what just happened significant in any way? How is almost falling down stairs in dream form powerful enough to break through my barrier?
"Why are you so quiet?" asks Sam.
I shrug, "I'm just thinking."
"Oh... What about? If you don't mind my asking."
I shrug again, "Nothing in particular just different things." I pause and try to think of something to talk about, "So you said that we share classes? What are they?"
"Chemistry, World History, Math, and I think we have lunch too..."
There was a cold gust of wind that swept past us and I shivered, "Really? I didn't even notice that I had a Sam in those classes. But I suppose if you don't have a face to match to a name it makes remembering names a tad difficult."
"True. You've never heard my voice either so there's that."
I nodded, "Yeah." I reached for the door handle and held open the door of the diner for Sam. We go to a table near the windows that covered the front of the diner.
From the aroma of overly sprayed perfume I gathered that the waitress that had come to take our order was an older waitress I had talked t0 many times before.
"Sven, I haven't talked to you in ages! How are you?" asked Judy.
I smiled in her direction my eyes hidden by my ever present shades, "I can't complain. How are you Judy?"
"I still don't know how you do it; tell everyone in here apart. I'm fine I can't really complain either. Now what can I get you and your lovely friend here?"
I cleared my throat, I knew what she was implying. She often said that I was 'too nice of a boy to not have a girlfriend' I usually just brushed off her comment with a joke about no one would want to be with a sight impaired, but really I just don't see the need for a girlfriend right now. Plus the whole being a dreamwalker thing doesn't particularly help things either. How would you explain that to someone; 'I can see things from the future in my dreams..' yeah that would go over real well...
I order my usual tea and Sam orders coffee. When Judy was walking away I heard the bell chime over the door and heard a familiar voice that makes my blood boil; Landon.
