Chapter 1, Beach.

"Are you ready to leave yet?" My mother calls from downstairs while I'm sitting on top of my over crammed suitcase, trying to close it.

"Coming" I struggle shout while pushing the zip around the bag.

I hear my mother running up the stairs and busts out into laughter when she sees my position, I'm lying on my stomach with one leg wrapped around the bag and the other leg limply hanging on the ground.

"It's not funny" I shout back and continue to try close the suitcase, my mum pulls me back and closes it easily without putting any pressure on the bag.

"You are amazing" I smile and hug her tight before she brings it downstairs to pack in the car.

Again I'm the last one in my family to get ready, it's not entirely my fault. My parents get up at 6 every day, personally I like sleeping in until 12ish. As I'm following my mum down the stairs I take out my hair from the high top ponytail it was in before and shake out my long blonde hair.

"Finally ready, are we?" my dad jokes from the front seat of the car, I notice his hair is a complete mess which I find funny because he gets up so early but doesn't have enough time to brush his own hair.

His chocolate brown locks are sticking up all around his head and his glasses are hitched at the top of his nose. My mum crawls in the front next to him and lightly peck his lips and runs her finger through her short blonde hair.

"Stop standing there and get in" my mum laughs showing off her white teeth.

I smile back and hop in the back seat "How longs the drive?"

"Only 1 hour" my dad informs me starting up the car.

Honestly I can't wait to get to my Nanna's beach house, I've only been off school for 3 days and I've been dying to go down. Even better that I'm staying there for the whole summer.

My dad starts the car and we drive out our driveway and start the journey, I turn on my music and put on my headphones in.

"Were here" my dad informs me while shaking my shoulder, waking me up from my short nap.

I open my eyes and see my dad parked in the driveway of the fimilar brightly coloured house. I jump out of the car and run to the front of the house, past the pool and climb down the ladder to get onto the beach.

The feeling of my feet touching the hot hand makes me smile as I continue running, this time towards the ocean. I stop just before I would hit the water and watch the beauty around me. I feel a small wave wash over my feet, there's two other people in the sea surfing. Jealously pangs inside of me, mum was strictly against surfing and surfers. She thought the sport was horrendously dangers. She also thought that surfers were modern hippies who smoked all day when not out on the ocean. But I completely disagree. Personally I think the two surfers look so at peace, being amongst the waves. Hopefully I'll be able to sneak in practise with granddad's old board without mum seeing.

"Jennifer!" I hear my mother shout from Nan's house "Come inside and unpack!"

I take one more look at the surfers and then run up the sand back to the house.

"Hot sand, hot sand" I mumble looking down at my feet, trying to find something to stand on that won't burn my skin.

As I'm running forward, not looking where I'm going. I end up knocking into a random and falling over on the ground.

"Hey!" I shout and remove the hair covering my face.

"I am so sorry" the guy replies offering me his hand, which I gladly take.

He has black longish hair that's tied in a short bun at the top of his head. His top is slightly tight which outline his defining muscles. I can't see his eyes so clearly but from what I can see, there a light hazel colour.

"Again I'm so sorry but when you're walking you might want look were you're going" he chuckles.

I run my fingers through my hair, how did I just embarrass myself In front of someone soooo gorgeous?

"I'm Alec by the way" he smiles exposing his white teeth.

"I'm Jen" I say and return a smile.

"Do you live around here or...?" He trails off.

"Yeah I'm staying in my Nan's house for the summer, were staying right there" I point to the house.

"No way" he says grinning hugely.

"Uh..yes way?" I reply awkwardly and he laughs.

"No I mean no way because were going to be neighbours" he says pulling me in for a hug.

He holds on tight as I struggle out his arms, who hugs a stranger they just met? This guy is obviously very forward.

"So who do you live with?" I say once he's done embracing me.

"My 4 other brothers and my parents" he tells me and my mouth drops open.

"You have 7 people in you're family?" I say amazed.

"Yeahhh" he answers awkwardly "How many do you have?"

"Just me and my parents" I smile.

He's about to say something else when my mum starts shouting again "Jennifer!"

"Coming mum" I shout back and pull an annoyed face to Alec.

"You better go, I think you're mum wants to see you" he laughs and begins walking back towards the ocean.

"Yeah" I smile and give a quick wave before climbing the ladder up to my house.

"And Jen?" He says "Come over if you need anything"

"Will do" I say and wave out to him from the house.

That was interesting...
