"The dress you got is made for you," Kyoka said as you two walked back into the office after lunch.
"Thanks," you smiled as you parted ways. You headed to the water fountain in the back hallway to refill your bottle when you heard voices. Funny, you thought. There was usually never anyone here. As you got closer the voices became clearer. You almost tripped over yourself when you heard your name.
"What did you do to Y/N?" a familiar voice asked. It couldn't be. Kuroo?
"Nothing, I swear." This was definitely Oikawa.
"Why did she look like that then? Something's wrong!"
"Well gee, I don't know because I didn't do anything! You care so much about her ask her yourself!"
"I know you said something. She didn't look like that this morning."
"Would you just stop?" Oikawa hissed, giving Kuroo a slap on the face. "I've seen the way you look at her. You've never looked at someone like that before. You've changed so much since you met her. I'm not getting in the way of that."
"Is it that obvious?" he asked quietly, rubbing the side of his face.
"Yeah. It is," Oikawa replied. "You better get your act together or else you'll lose her forever. If that happens I'll be really mad. I honestly think I could slap you harder," he said, walking away.
You quickly ran back to your cubicle before anyone could see you. You laid your head on your desk and sat there until someone interrupted you.
"Y/N," it was Kuroo. "You left this," he said, handing you your water bottle. He turned around without saying another word. You knew you needed to talk to him and tried grabbed his hand.
"Kuroo," you called. He didn't turn around. He kept walking as his hand slipped out of yours. "Kuroo!" you followed him, shoving your arm between the door to his office just as it was about to close.
"Did Oikawa mean it?" you grabbed his arm again, closing the door behind you. "Hey!" you snapped your fingers.
"You weren't supposed to hear that!" he blurted. "You were supposed to be out."
"I just want to know if Oikawa meant what he said about how you feel. That's all. Please, Kuroo."
"If you didn't realize already, yeah. He meant it."
"What's the big deal in just saying so?" He looked at you with wide eyes. You were right. From the first day he made it clear his sights were set on you.
"I'm sorry," he wrapped his arms around you, hesitating before you gave him a reassuring nod. "I'm not usually like this."
"I know. You shouldn't worry so much though. Oikawa didn't do anything, promise."
"Are we still a go for tonight?" he asked shyly.
"Are you kidding? I've been waiting all day!" you smiled, walking out the door.
It was 8 P.M. on a Friday night and the office was nearly empty. You changed into your red dress and fixed your makeup before knocking on Kuroo's door.
"Come i—" he stopped when he saw you. "Holy crap. You look amazing. R-really," he stuttered.
"So much for all I hear about how smooth you are," you snickered. You couldn't get over how clumsy Kuroo was the more you got to know him.
"I second that," Oikawa walked in behind you. "He's acting like a total idiot." Kuroo got up and kicked Oikawa in the shin. "Kuroo!" he whined, "what was that for?!" Oikawa sat at his friend's desk as the two of you got ready to leave.
"Ready?" Kuroo asked, grabbing his keys.
"Yeah. I posted about it. He should be there."
"Wait. You guys aren't leaving until I get pictures," Oikawa called, getting his phone out.
"Oh, that's a good idea!" he tugged your arm. You usually weren't one for pictures but you didn't feel like saying no now.
Kuroo walked over to Oikawa once he finished taking pictures. "Are you sure you'll be fine?" he asked. Oikawa nodded. You wondered what that was about.
Oikawa leaned back in Kuroo's chair, pulling out a photo frame once you guys had left. He wrote something on a sticky note and went to the copy room to print a photo he took. It wasn't the best photo by any means—you and Kuroo weren't even looking at the camera—but the way the two of you looked at each other was too good for him to pass up. It reminded him of someone. He placed the photo in the frame with the sticky note on top. It read "treasure her."
Later on Oikawa got his stuff from his office as his coworker handed him the flowers he'd asked for.
"Date tonight, boss?"
"Something like that," Oikawa nodded and headed down to his car.
He drove out of the city, far from where he'd take any girl for a date. Eventually he took the exit for a Rosefield Cemetery.
