The Stop

Chapter 4

"Oh hell to the no..." cried Asia. She know what her cousin was hinting at. "I am not about to do no hooking, my Ma will bitch and she will call DSS herself."
"Come on...Bitch... for a few hours..." persuaded Peaches. Asia heard the stories. She heard about Cherry.
"She didn't do anything. You see one of my cop friends gave her the money." Peaches declared.
"Hell no..hell, I ain't no angel Peach, but that's not me."
Asia was quick to admit. She got high. She drank, the only sex she did was the fling she had with Kenny. He was a cool guy and he hung with her, Rachael, and Tinisha sometimes. Their hook up just happened.
"Come on... it's quick money and I ain't saying nothing." Peaches replied.
"Bitch, you snitched on Cherry." Asia informed.
"Cherry just followed me. We hung out with some cops, almost got busted in the strip club but I was the only one that did something..."
Asia reasoned. I do need money.
"I ain't going out by no docks. Too many bodies be found..." said Asia. " And Peaches I ain't no recruit. This is a one time gig."
Peaches led back on the couch. " You got some weed or something...I need a hit..."
" Don't tell me you doing hard shit, Peach..." cried Asia. Damn, she can't do shit with an addict!"
"Me and my man's did some Fry last night.." Peaches slurred sleepily.
"Bitch, that's PCP...damn you doing K2 and shit..." cried Asia.
"Come on Cuz..." Peaches plead slurring.
Asia paced. "Maya is a big eater that pitcher
"Besides I know a place better then the docks." Peaches replied.
"I need someone to keep Maya...." said Asia.

"Ma, come on just for a couple of hours." begged Asia. " I was good all day."
Ma looked at her then Peaches. "Ma just having a little get together...play cards and stuff."
"I know what y'all be doing around there. Gambling, drinking liquor, and laying up with men."cried Ma.
"Come on Auntie....your grand baby need milk and I know my Ma will let Asia borrow the money..."
Maya started crying. "She's got a half of pitcher Ma and Maya can eat." plead Asia.
Ma relaxed. "Don't think I don't know what you be doing Peaches. I did the best I can do for you, Asia...I don't want to see my grandchild starve...I give you three hours. Or I will call DSS myself, Asia...do you want your child in foster care?"
"Auntie is a bitch!" cried Peaches as they walked toward town. Asia felt desperate. She can't have them take little Maya. Despite it all Maya was the only little happiness Asia can hold on to. "All Ma care about is what people say and that Church."
"That Church of God mega church? A friend of mine knows that pastor...says he's a crook..."said Peaches. "His job is to shepherd the flock....but he be fleecing..." Asia looked at her cousin and chuckled.
"You know the Bible...." said Asia amazed.
"No...but I fucked a Deacon once..." said Peaches. Asia hit Peaches on the arm and laughed.
