The Stop

Chapter 2

"Ms. Jeffcoat, Asia is pregnant." said the nurse. Asia gasp. Ma took her to the doctor because Asia was complaining of being sick and throwing up. Maybe it was a touch of flu or walking pneumonia.
Ma remained calm as the nurse explained to Asia about options.
When they got into the car away from the doctor's office. Ma was angry.
"Who messed with you Asia" she exclaimed. "You went around messing with that Sanderson boy!"
It was so embarrassing cause Ma took her to Jamal's house.
A light skinned lady answered the door. "Your son knocked my daughter up!" Ma exclaimed. The woman wasn't too calm on receiving the news because she called Ma a Bitch and Asia a little Hoe. "My son wouldn't mess with Project trash anyway!"
It was bad. When Asia came to school it was worst. Everyone knew about Asia's crazy Ma.
Because the hurting part was that Jamal laughed and told everyone about it.
"She ain't carry my baby...please." He said. His ex girl got in on the fun along with some other girls. One day they cornered her in the bathroom.
" That's what you get, Slut!" cried Shavonda. " Jamal says you came begging him for his dick!" I told her that's a lie.
She pushed Asia and Asia pushed her back leading into a fight in the Girl's Bathroom.
They sat in the Guidance Counselor's office after that.
"Look you girls have to resolve it." said Mrs. Buggs. Shavonda cut her eyes and sucked her teeth. Asia became really furious.
" If it was your boyfriend why he was messing with me?" Asia cried. "All he did was got me drunk and took advantage of me!" All of it came crashing down on Asia and she sank back in the chair sobbing.
Ma never really forgave her. "Oh, you taking your little ass to school...you took your ass to get pregnant by that boy!" Ma retorted one day when Asia objected.
She went on to school even getting ridicule by most of her schoolmates. There was this girl named Jennifer who stopped Shavonda and Wanda. Jennifer was different, she was called a dyke by most of the kids. She like to dress like a boy. She was Jamal's cousin, who he disowned in the front of everyone at Baker High School.
"Shut up, Shavonda. He did the same thing to you in fact, didn't my Auntie Eva told you to have an abortion?"
Everyone gasped. Jennifer's friends Keshia and Ronasha laughed. They hated Shavonda and her crew. Asia looked at Jennifer with gratitude and Jennifer at her with pity. Asia threw herself in her books. Her grades were going down. She was never good in math but she did good in English. She took a Child Development course too. The last of May, she graduated but she didn't walk on stage. She didn't see Jamal because rumor had it that he went to his relatives in North. He didn't even acknowledge the fact that he was the father of her child.
