Four years later

Laurel had given in and married Felicity even though she wasn't in love with the younger girl. But people could tell Laurel had lost a certain spark in her eyes. Even the people she worked with at the law firm. The same Laurel that went to the cabin wasn't the Laurel who came back.

Felicity could tell something was up but every time she tried to bring it up with Laurel, she'd snap at her or walk away. She had expected Laurel to come clean about sleeping with her father but when she hadn't, Felicity had assumed it meant nothing to her and didn't think about it again.

At least not until she found Laurel in their bed one night crying.

"Laurel?" Felicity asked, sitting down on the edge of the bed beside her wife. "What's wrong?"

"I can't do this anymore Felicity." Laurel barely got out through tears.

Felicity's heart climbed into her throat. She knew this would happen one day, she was expecting it, but she didn't expect it so soon. "What do you mean?" She asked softly.

"I slept with your dad, before the wedding many times." Laurel barely got out.

Felicity didn't look up at Laurel. "Bea told me. She saw you." She said calmly.

Laurel sobbed softly. "I love him."

Felicity didn't say a thing. She wasn't sure what to say.

"I'm sorry." Laurel whispered.

"Why did you marry me?" Felicity asked.

The older blonde looked down. "He told me to, said he didn't love me. That it was just sex."

"Since when have you done what you were told to do?" Felicity asked.

"I don't know." Laurel admitted weakly.

"So you want to get a divorce?" Felicity asked weakly, not looking at Laurel.

Laurel doesn't answer.

"Do you want to get a divorce?" Felicity asked again.

"I don't know." Laurel whispered.

"You don't know?" Felicity breathed. She got up. "I'm going for a walk to clear my head." She left the room quietly.

Laurel closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She lay back on the bed and covered her face with her hands as she heard Felicity leave the house.

Her phone began vibrating on the bed side table. She reached for it halfheartedly.

It was Ian.

"Hello?" Laurel asked, answering the phone.

"Laurel." Ian said softly.

Laurel swallowed thickly. "Ian."

"Hi." Ian said.

"Why are you calling me now? It's been four years." Laurel breathed out.

"My daughter isn't answering her phone." Ian said.

The blonde closed her eyes weakly. "She went out. I told her."

"You told her what?" Ian asked.

"About what happened between us." Laurel whispered into the phone.

"What did she say?" Ian asked.

Laurel swallowed thickly. "She asked if I want a divorce."

"And do you?" Ian asked.

"I still love you Ian." Laurel responded weakly.

"You didn't answer the question." Ian said.

"Honey, who are you talking to?" Laurel heard a female voice in the background of the line.

Laurel closed her eyes and fought back more tears. "It doesn't matter anymore." She said before hanging up.

When Felicity came home she saw an ambulance and police cars outside her apartment. She broke into a run, and was at her apartment front door in seconds where she was stopped by a police officer.

"What are you doing? My wife is in there." Felicity snapped at him.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry." The officer said sadly. "She passed away after calling 911."

Felicity stared at him. "You're lying." She snapped, pushing past him and into her and Laurel's apartment.

It was a mess and there was a puddle of blood in the living room where a black tarp was covering a body.

Felicity froze, her hand covering her mouth. "Oh god."

"You shouldn't have to see this." The officer said softly. "There was a break in. She fought off the attacker but was stabbed multiple times." The officer glanced toward the tarp. "She managed to call 911 before she bled out.'

Felicity moved across the room, bent down beside Laurel's body and lifted the tarp slightly so she could see Laurel's face.

"Hey, come on." The officer said, crossing the room and moving to place his hand on her shoulder.

"Don't touch me!" Felicity snapped, tears rolled down her cheeks as she stared at Laurel's face.

The dead blonde's eyes were wide open.

A sob left Felicity's mouth. "She can't be dead." She breathed. "This is my fault. If I hadn't left..." she trailed off.

"You both would be dead." The officer stated calmly.

Another sob left Felicity's mouth.

Her phone went off on the kitchen counter.

She ignored it.

It began going off once more, only this time it sounded closer.

Suddenly, Felicity woke with a start to find Laurel sound asleep beside her. She was covered in sweat and trembling as she looked at Laurel, panting.

Laurel shifted in her sleep and moved closer to Felicity. Just as the phone goes off again.

Felicity jumped and reached for her phone. She answered it. "Hello?"

"Hey Flick, the wedding is in two months right?" She heard Bea ask, just as Laurel groaned and pulled her closer.

"Hang up the phone babe." Laurel mumbled tiredly, it was only four in the morning and she had a huge case to work on.

"Uh..." Felicity said. "Yes, but why did you have to call me at four in the morning to ask."

"Shit, it's four in the morning?" Bea asked instantly.

"Yeah." Felicity said.

Bea laughed softly. "Sorry Flick, go back to sleep."

Laurel groaned and sat up, looking at her fiance.

Felicity ended the call and put the phone down. She looked up at Laurel. "Sorry."

"You know I have a big case babe." Laurel responded, laying back down and curling around Felicity.

"I'm sorry. Bea is a night owl." Felicity said, kissing Laurel's head.

Humming tiredly, Laurel buried her face in Felicity's neck. "Love you."

"I love you too." Felicity said.

As they lay there in each other's arms, Felicity realised that everything that had happened had all been one bush horrible nightmare.
