(This is very long... but enjoy)

I sat in a tent with Jorge, Brenda, and the doctor, who I learned her name was Mary. Brenda laid on, shaking and panting a little bit. Jorge sat on one side of the bed, petting her head. And I sat on the other side in a chair, my jacket was off, I had a thing around my arm.
Mary was gonna take some of my blood for Brenda.
"In the beginning, we were lost. All we knew for sure," Mary paused, "Was that the younger you were, the stronger your chances."
I glanced at her, "You worked for Wicked?"
I had my gaze on the side of her face a little. It showed... disappointment? "Long time ago. You know, at first we had the best intentions. Find a cure, save the world. It was clear you kids were the key, because you were immune. But why? Eventually, we found an answer. An enzyme produced by the brains of the immune. Once separated from the bloodstream, it can serve as a powerful agent to slow the spread of the virus."
"So, you found a cure?"
"Not exactly. The enzyme can't be manufactured, only harvested from the immune. The young. Of course, that didn't stop Wicked. If they had their way, they'd sacrifice an entire generation. All for this. A gift of biology. Of evolution. But one not meant for all of us." Mary said.
She walked over to Brenda, going beside Jorge, the syringe with my blood in her hand. She rolled up Brenda's sleeve. And all of a sudden, Brenda's breathing became faster than it just was. Mary then, pointed the needle at her arm, and put it in her.
Brenda took a big gasp, then her breathing became normal, instantly. Jorge held both sides of her face, gently, caressing her cheeks a little.
"How long will that give her?" I ask.
"It's different for everyone. A few months maybe. But that's the catch, isn't it? She'll always need more."
She stood up, putting her hand on Jorge's shoulder.
"Let's go outside. Let them rest. Let's go."
Jorge stood up and looked at me. He seemed hesitant to leave Brenda's side. And I understood that.
"She'll be fine." Mary assured him.
I watched them leave. Jorge left the tent, and Mary turned to me before she left.
"Y/n. You know she can't come with us, right?"
I didn't say anything, just kinda looked at her. She smiled at me, sadly before turning on her heel and walking out the door.

It had been a little while, I'd say. Brenda was still sleeping. I sat beside her bed a little, and put on my jacket. I turned back to her, getting up to my feet. I studied her form. Her face still looked kinda pale, her lips were still slightly purplish.
But, she looked better.
Her breathing was normal again.
She had one hand on her chest, and the other on her stomach. I was about to walk away, before something caught my eye. Something was on the bed with her, by her hip. I didn't wanna be nosy, but my curiosity got the best of me.
I grabbed it, examining the metal piece, before I opened it. Inside, revealed a picture of a boy. He looked familiar. I feel like I've seen him before. Back in the maze.
"He was my brother." Brenda suddenly spoke.
"Hey. Sorry. Are you okay? How you feeling?" I asked, handing back the picture.
