It was dark, and silent. The only thing I could hear was mine and Brenda's heavy breathing, and coughing from the dust and dirt around us. Suddenly, a small light came in the dark place we were in. I turned to see Brenda, a flashlight in her hand.

I couldn't stop coughing. My breathing was heavy. Kinda reminds me when I spent that night in the maze before.

"You okay?" Brenda asked me.

"Oh yeah, great." I said sarcastically.

I continued coughing, and so did she a little bit. She shined her flashlight around the place we were in, before we got up to our feet, starting to walk. Eventually, we found a vent type of door. We crouched down, lifting up the heavy object, before it fell.

We looked down with the flashlights in our hands. I heard a shrieking type of sound, echoing the underground. I looked at Brenda with raised eyebrows.

"Well, that doesn't sound good." I commented.

"Yeah. Down here, they'll be full term. Let's go." She said before jumping down, not giving me a chance to say anything.

I followed her, jumping down, my feet making an echo sound. Brenda looked in a little tunnel, before walking through, me right behind her. Once we made it to the other side, we looked around the dark tunnels, water drops, and wind could be heard.

"I think it's this way." Brenda said, looking to our right.

"You think..." I mumbled, but I don't think she heard me.

We continued walking through the dark, and echoed tunnels. I couldn't help and think of Minho. I hope he's okay. And the others too. Does he think I'm dead, now?

"Do people live down here?" My voice echoed through the tunnels.

"The Solar Storms forced people underground. Jorge says there's settlements all over these tunnels." Brenda's voice echoed.

"What about Jorge? Is he your father?"

"Close enough. Truth is, I don't really know what he is. He's just always been there. And I've always done what he's asked me to do, no matter how stupid." She answered.

"So you don't think the Right Arm is real?" I questioned.

Just then, we heard a familiar sound echoing behind us, making us turn and flash our lights there. But, there was nothing.

"I think," she started, "Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope has killed more of my friends than the Flare and the Scorch combined. Just thought Jorge was smarter than that." She said.

We continued walking, till we stopped, seeing many ways to go, with graffiti on the walls. We looked to the right first, before shining our lights to the left.

"Damn." Brenda commented.

I walked forwards, looking everywhere for a way to get out of here. I went through one tunnel, seeing light at the end of it.

"Hey, I think it might be this way."

I turned around, expecting Brenda to be behind me, but she wasn't anywhere in my sight.

"Brenda? Brenda?" I called.

"Over here." She softly called back.

I walked towards her voice, before I heard her speak again.

"Look at this."

"What? What is it?"

I walked up behind her, following her gaze, seeing many vines on the walls. But, they didn't look like normal vines. These vines reminded me of those cranks we had encountered before. I moved my gaze to the whole tunnel, seeing them all over the place. To be honest, it looked disgusting, and kinda creepy.
