A tearful confession ~Aether x Hu Tao~

Aether and piamon had just finished their daily commissions when they ran into the trouble maker Hu Tao, her reputation in Liyue wasn't the best but she was alright once you got to know her...

"TRAVELLER!" Aether heard from a distance until someone swung their arms around his neck almost making him fall over

"Hu Tao.... I told you to stop doing that..." a deaper voice said. "Well I'm sorry then." The young girl scoffed, Aether soon turned around to a smiling hu tao and a dead inside looking Zhongli.

"Sorry about her Traveller she had a wild personality" Zhongli quietly said so Hu Tao wouldn't hear him while she teased Piamon

"It's okay sometimes people like her can make you smile" once aether said that his heart fluttered, was he catching feelings for liyue's troublemaker?

"Anyway, I have something to ask" Zhongli said with a worried tone in his voice

" what is it Zhongli?" Aether asked, a little worried

"Do you mind taking Hu Tao along with you for today I have something to do and she'll get in the way..."

Confusion hit Aether, it took him a few seconds to understand what Zhongli meant by "she'll get in the way..."

"Childe isn't it?" Aether asked, Zhongli looked as if he was about to deny his words but then a flustered look appeared on the Archons face.

"Yes... just don't mention anything to her..."

"Okay,I won't go and enjoy your "date" Aether teased as Zhongli waved his goodbye's

"Hey... where's the old man off to?" Hu Tao asked and she turned to the traveler after seeing no fun in teasing piamon anymore

"He's gone for business, I can't say anything else" Hu Tao's face looked confused, Had Aether said too much?

"Business?" She asked still visibly confused with the travellers words, "Yes business"

"Oh, okay then" she looked a little disappointed to Aether when she said those three words

" what's up, You miss him already?" Aether teased and Hu Tao Shot her head up from looking at the ground "NO! I-I JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHERE HE WAS GOING THAT'S ALL!" She yelled at the traveler with blush dusting her cheeks

"Just teasing you" Aether said back to the girl whose eyes were closed while holding her breath, Almost like a Tsundere Aether thought to himself.

"Anyways Since I'm stuck with you for the rest of the day until Zhongli comes back-" Aether was cut off when Hu Tao Screamed "I'M STUCK WITH YOU?!" Aether was the confused one now. "Uhhh... yeah Zhongli told me to take you with me somewhere, he didn't say where but if you'd rather go off on your own then I don't mind" "No..." Hu Tao seemed rather soft now her mischievous personality was nowhere to be seen...

"I don't mind coming along with you for a while" The young girl said, Aether could see the blush on her cheeks rising but he didn't think anything of it.

"Have any where in mind?" Aether asked with a smile that made Hu Tao blush even more, "Uhhh... how about Wangshu inn, you pixie friend mentioned that the food there is really good and I am kinda hungry myself..." Hu tao got really nervous, Admitting she was hungry to the guy she had a crush on was really embarrassing for her

"Okay then that's where we will go!" Aether said again with a smile on his face,

"Piamon wonders who will pay, since this is kinda like a date between you two..." Piamon said with a mischievous grin on her face, "I don't mind paying since I'm the one who suggested we come here" Hu Tao said staring at the floor as they continued to walk to Wangshu inn, "You don't have to, I don't mind paying you know" Aether said looking at the young girl walking beside him, she refused to look up. "No,no it's okay" She looked at the blond man walking besides her "Besides you need the mora you have for your journey to Inazuma in the next month, right? She was right Aether did need to mora. He couldn't go to Inazuma empty handed, "I guess you're right..." aether sighed.

After their "dinner date" was over they started to head back to liyue, half way back Hu Tao had a small question to ask,

"Uhhh... Traveller can I ask you a question?" Hu Tao stopped dead in her tracks and looked at the ground again, "Sure what's up?" Aether asked, he was a little worried but managed to hide his emotions from the girl

"You May not want to know me after this but I just need to get this off of my chest..." The young girl hesitated before building up the courage to confess to the blonde haired boy infront of her, "I like you traveller and not just like I mean like, like, you could say that I've had a crush on you for the past month...

Aether had no words he could just smile and the girl and she stared at the ground waiting for an answer, Hu Tao eyes started to fog up with tears but she didn't start to fully cry until she was pulled into a hug, a warm hug.

"Hu Tao, there's no need to cry, I accept your feelings and I've liked you for a while now too" Aether whispered into her ear as she tightened her grip on the boy's arms, "are y-you lying to me?" She asked with more tears forming in her eyes, "I would never lie to anyone about the way I felt towards them" Aether said as he wiped the tears off of Hu Tao's cheeks he couldn't bare seeing her cry any longer.

"I hope you really are telling the truth- '' She was cut off by a kiss from the traveller she had fallen in love with, she immediately kissed back lovingly of course, the kiss lasted a few seconds but It was the first and certainly not the last one. they pulled apart, Tears were once again forming in the girls eyes "Hu Tao" "Yeah?"

"I love you"

Hu Tao paused a little before replying to his words

"I love you to Aether"

They both shared another kiss under the moonlight it wasn't very long but meant a lot as the first one did,

" we should head back, Abyss mages as more active at this time of night" Aether said still holding his lover "Yeah... it's getting dark out here I don't want you injured" Hu Tao said looking up at Aether will a small smile "Don't worry i'm not going to get myself hurt, you'll be here to make sure of that" Aether said, with a small smile

"Alright, Alright You two lovebirds go to bed, I'm heading to Xiangling's Place I ain't sleeping in a 6 meter radius of Teenage love." Piamon scoffed as she floated away to Xiangling's place. Both Aether and Hu Tao giggled at her words " Let's get going before our funeral is in place" Aether teased, " HEY! don't say things time that you'll scare me!" Hu tao yelled as she ran after her traveller soon catching up and jumping into his arms, Aether was now carrying her bridal style, he wasn't complaining though, " maybe one day I'll be in a white dress while you carry be like this" Hu Tao said as she closed her eyes, "Don't go saying things like that this early you'll jinx it" aether said back to Hu Tao "Yeah, yeah let a girl dream" Hu Tao said ask Aether placed a kiss on her forehead.

The morning sun had fallen upon liyue harbour as Hu Tao woke up to a figure on her balcony leading from her bed room, it was her lover, the boy she had confessed to a few hours earlier, she jumped out of bed and sleepily walked to Aether and hugged him from behind

"Morning Hu tao" Aether said softly as he turned around to hug Hu Tao "Morning Aether" she said as she fell back to sleep in Aether's arms, Aether couldn't help but laugh at her tiredness, he let her sleep in his arms for a while before placing her back in bed and cuddled up to her and slowly fell back to sleep as well.

Oh god- it 4 in the morning and I'm tired!

I hope you enjoy, this is my first fan fic and Hu Tao x Aether has been living in my mind for a while now so I thought I'd write this

(Maybe a small Xiao x Aether next time)
