The game was rough. Harry watched from the sidelines as George bashed through the Hall Cross players, knocking poor Louis to the ground more than once. He was getting more worked up as the game went on and the teams were tied 0-0. Half time came and went and now George had really had enough. With 15 minutes to go he wrestled up all his strength and frustration, eventually bowling over a midfield player earning him a yellow card.
Hall Cross now had their best chance at scoring. Kevin, one of their top players was now crawling off the field seemingly coughing up blood from the fowl but the rest of the team were forced to stay positive. With George being carded the boys felt confident once more. Louis made a run up from the back, making it past every player who challenged him, looking for an opportunity he struck the ball with force across the pitch to the right where Liam was running harder than ever. Once the pass was made Louis jogged back to defence watching as Liam booted the ball into the top right corner of the goal.
The crowd erupted and for the first time ever Harry noticed how important this game really was. He watched Louis run into a group hug in excitement, a huge smile on his face. Harry had never understood the appeal of football but as he watched Louis throw his arms in the air he could see the pure happiness within him. Watching Louis bounce around in joy caused Harry to smile and he realized he couldn't miss this opportunity. He would rather be rejected than live with the not knowing. So there sitting on the wooden bleachers surrounded by strangers Harry made his final decision and began to mentally prepare for the scariest moment of his life.
The game ended shortly after Liam's goal. Hall Cross taking the win by 1 point. Harry stayed seated for a while after the game ended, trying to work out when he could get Louis alone. He watched as both teams went into their separate locker rooms. George had been carded before pretty much every season and Harry knew that the Eastwood coach would sit him down and tell him off for an extra half hour. Usually this was the worst because it meant Harry was forced to sit in the cold for 30 minutes longer waiting for his lift. But today it couldn't have been better, it gave Harry the perfect window to speak to Louis.Hall Cross boys started coming out of the locker room one by one. After around 5 guys had left Louis came out with Niall, the two deep in conversation. This threw Harry off a little bit but he was still determined to speak to Louis. He watched them as they walked over to a black SUV and Niall waved goodbye to Louis as he got in the car and drove off.
"Perfect" Harry whispered to himself. Louis was now alone and walking slow enough for Harry to catch up. He quickly grabbed his bag and threw it over his shoulder running over to Louis.
Louis now stood at a bus stop across the street. He looked up from the pavement to see the curly haired dreamboat coming in his direction. He panicked and became tense as Harry got closer and closer to him.
"Hey! Great game."
Harry said as he was within the earshot of Louis. He had gone over that opening line 100 times and it still sounded stupid.
"Oh hey, Harry is it?"
Louis of course knew his name all too well but was determined to seem cool in front of him.
"Haha yeah that's right. And you're Louis Tomlinson I presume?"
Harry replied awkwardly.
"You guessed it. What brings you here?"
"Oh my brother was playing, he's the Eastwood captain and my only ride home so you know..."
Harry's statement made Louis chuckle and the pair locked eyes for a brief moment causing time to slow down around them.
Harry prepared to ask the big question but before he could get a word out Louis started.
"Hey uh I know I don't know you that well but do you want to come to this party my friend is throwing tonight?"
"I just don't know if it'll be any good and I think if you were there it might be kinda fun."
Harry was caught off guard. He had spent all day coming up with a way to ask Louis out and here he was beating him to it.
"Yeah that sounds fun."
Harry replied with a big smile which made Louis blush.
Louis gave Harry his number so he could text him the address. Then he got on the bus waving goodbye to Harry, neither of them breaking their smiles.
