"Why don't you come to my place for lunch today? I promise, I cook well, '' Thomas's voice crackled on the Bluetooth headset in Scarlett's ear. She parked the car in front of Grand Valley. She laughed.
"Are you offering to make me lunch? Thomas Calligan, you will spoil me. "
Her heart skipped a beat at his hearty laughter.
"Well, maybe that's my plan."
''Oh, really? Then I accept your offer. "
"Excellent," he said triumphantly. "I'll send you the address."
Shortly after the call ended, she heard the familiar sound of a message on the phone. She took the bag from the seat and put the phone in it. She had to leave her personal belongings at the reception anyway so she didn't even want to waste time looking at the address Thomas sent her. Although she was very pleased that he wanted to make such a nice gesture to her, every brain cell was focused on Sebastian now. It didn't give her peace – she didn't know what he was going to tell her, but she knew it was something serious. Something in his cold but pleasant voice did not give the impression that he was going to talk about something wonderful that had happened to him. It seemed as if Scarlett would really find herself conflicted with her opinions and beliefs after that. And that she wouldn't like it at all.
She repeated the standard procedure of leaving things with disinterested Marsha and demanded a guard to let her go to Sebastian. Marsha rolled her eyes not so discreetly and called a young man named Liam. Liam, with a kind smile and nodding his head in greeting, escorted her to Sebastian's cell and let her into it.
Sebastian walked leisurely along the established route in his dungeon. His face was stony, expressionless, and his eyes like a predator. He followed the guard with his gaze, whose opportunity soon disappeared with the loud creak of the door that separated Sebastian's cell from the other patients. Even in a mental institution I was isolated, Scarlett assumed that would be one of his comments.
He sighed briefly and moved. His face was still expressionless and his jaw clenched. With his hands in the pockets of his gray tracksuit, he began to walk toward Scarlett like a wolf trying to block his prey. His step was graceful and firm. Scarlett felt the tiny hairs on her neck rising and alerting her that something was wrong and that she was in danger. She licked her lips nervously and tried to cover up the panic she was sure was sticking out of her eyes. Sebastian stood opposite her, only a few inches away, and she could feel his breath on her lips.
"Is something wrong, Sebastian?" She asked, in a slightly hoarse voice, but received no answer. Instead, he silently watched her with a critical expression. He bit his lower lip.
"This visit will not last very long, doc," he told her in vain. He scanned the room with his lip between his teeth.
''What do you mean? Why?''
He was silent for a few moments, as if choosing the right words to say the following information to her.
"Because I'm going to attack you."
"Excuse me?" She asked in disbelief. That sentence seemed like a joke, but nothing in his speech, tone, or facial expression had the slightest hint of a joke.
"I'll attack you, Scarlett."
"Are you crazy?!"
At her words, he squeezed her muscles with his hands and, moving her a few meters, nailed her to the wall. She didn't even have a chance to kick in protest because he was extremely strong. The wall was cold and froze her skin beneath the fabric she was wearing. His gaze was warning.
