Chapter 1: Prologue
To most, a new school year meant either a fresh start or showing off both your intelligence and abilities to those around you. However, April in Suzuran meant only one thing – new recruits to already organized groups or new and stronger forces joining the never-ending dream of conquering the school.
Each year it was the same circle, each year it was getting worse and worse than the previous years. In the end, only one girl applied to Suzuran. A school that was infamously known for its monstrous and out-of-control delinquents.
The teachers were shocked when the news reached them, not wanting to believe that a girl had agreed to be the only girl (some of them doubted wherever or not she was aware of their school's reputation or if she even knew that she'd be the only girl). Even so, they agreed to keep it secret from both the media and the boys, wanting to protect the poor girl and prevent chaos from being unleashed.
It wasn't an easy task, especially not when she had to take a test (and an interview) with her future classmates. And yet, the Vice-Principal could sense trouble coming once she was accepted as the PTA had warned them beforehand.
Why? They would stay as lip-tight as possible, only talking in impossible riddles.
Those old bastards, he cursed.
Then, the day when they finally announced the results came – and she was accepted, as they all knew her to be, despite them being an all-boys school, along with a few other troublemakers from here and there. The Vice-Principal scratched his head, somehow knowing that the next three years would be especially handful and troublesome.
He was starting to regret not having requested a transfer when he had a chance, even if it did mean a much lower salary and was further from his home. It would've been safer. He pitied the two female teachers still working with him in this school full of monsters (as he sometimes liked to call them). Because everyone knew that Suzuran was constantly at war with each other, always attempting to conquer the top. It's never been done before, and the Vice-Principal doubted if it ever could be done.
At the entrance ceremony, held in the gymnasium hall, he expected chaos to erupt in the same way as it did every year during his opening speech. And his fears were confirmed. It happened during the freshmen representative speech (who looked weak and unable to fight, probably only chose the school either due to the lack of acceptance from other schools or parent recommending him or blindly picking it).
A commotion broke out, but what shocked him the most was that it was between their only girl and an intimidating-looking guy, gaining nearly instantly everyone's attention. He never did find out what exactly happened, and frankly, he didn't want to know. He dreaded the answer.
And the teachers, who had previously offered to give their best to protect the girl backed off, and were now staring at the scene with shocked and widened eyes, unable to believe that a supposedly fragile girl managed to handle herself more than well. She took a few hits here and there, never forgetting to respond with the same.
It was utter chaos.
Which only ended when someone came running, saying that a fancy car was outside with Yakuza men surrounding it.
She had looked annoyed that much the Vice-Principal remembered. However, rather than reacting, she merely shrugged and started talking with a guy, who'd barely left her side. Some of the guys had gone outside to see what the commotion was about when one of the Yakuza entered and headed straight to the girl. The boys instantly made a path for the man, not daring to touch him.
From that point on, it wasn't a secret that Tanaka Yui was part of the Yakuza, suddenly making her admittance to Suzuran clearer.
He remembered that the man had left quickly, but not after bowing and saying something to a suddenly furious-looking Tanaka Yui. The Vice-Principal faintly remembered her running a hand through her black hair, before grabbing her stuff and muttering something to her friend. No one dared to say anything as she followed the Yakuza outside.
Without a doubt, that was the most memorable day in his life as a teacher.
Or maybe not.
