Shoto had wanted to go to their island estate and make dinner together, since you can't really order anything to island. While on the jet I had started taking note of just how much money his family had. An island estate, plus a whole other estate on the mainland. I chuckled and sat up in my seat. I didn't really like planes, but it was the only way Shoto would allow me to get to the mainland. After the plane landed and the pilot told me I could leave, I rushed to the exit and almost ran off the plane, anxious to let my wings stretch out.
"Hello, Luna." Shoto was walking up the platform as I got off the plane.
"Hey Shoto!" I gave him a smile as I stretched, I hated confined spaces.
"How have you been?" We both started walking off the platform, Shoto always walked on my right because that would mean I was on his warmer side. Today he seemed excited and nervous about something; and he was walking a tad closer to me than normal."Good, just glad that I'm not working tonight, and glad that I get to spend time with you. How about you?" Shoto gave me a sweet smile before answering, "I'm doing better now that I'm with you, but I'm also glad to not be working, I have been working with barely any breaks ever since Izuku revealed himself as the leader of the LOV..." Shoto opened the front door house (more like mansion) for me as his sentence trailed off.
"Ah, Kiri told me about that..." I thanked him for opening the door and he led me to the kitchens. The entry hall was large and had two staircases on each side of a glass door that led to an inside garden, and the room was a glass dome. The door to the kitchens was under the right staircase, we walked down a hall before walking through a set of swinging double doors on the left wall.
"Did he now?" Shoto's response was a bit late, but he usually responded late when he was deep in thought.
"Yeah, he might have told me out of concern, though."
"Well, we weren't supposed to tell anyone... But considering..." Shoto stood in front of the counter as I started looking around for ingredients.
"Considering what?"
"Nothing, what did you want to make?"
"Pancakes, it's really the only recipe I have memorized." I grabbed all the dry ingredients while Shoto sat up on the counter, he didn't cook but did enjoy my company, so it worked out for the both of us.
"I love your pancakes." Shoto almost seemed wistful, but I was too busy trying to remember if it was five or six tablespoons of sugar, I usually put extra in anyways, so I assumed it was six.
"It's my specialty, and I'm ninety percent sure it's the only reason Rin and Bakugo tolerate my bull shit."
"Oh? Out of curiosity, why do you assume I tolerate you?" I looked at Shoto, who had a teasing smile.
"I think we both know the answer to that."
"Do I?" Shoto slid off the counter and stood next to me as I started mixing the wet ingredients.
"Yes, you do." I laughed as he slid an arm around my waist and rested his head on my shoulder.
"I don't think I do."
"You're getting impatient, aren't you?"
"You couldn't tell? It's been years Luna."
"I know." I started mixing all the batter together, I missed this safe feeling of Shoto holding on to me.
"So?"
"So what?" I started putting the batter on the griddle with some chocolate chips.
"I would like to know your thoughts on us."
"Hmm, how about I give you an answer next time?"
"Promise?"
"I promise."
"Alright, just know that you always have a place to stay here. No matter what your answer will be." Shoto kissed my forehead before grabbing a spatula for me to flip the pancakes with. "How has your job been?" Shoto asked as he walked away from me to grab some plates for the pancakes.
"Good, I do have a mi- project, that's slightly stressful."
"Mission?" Shoto paused as he set the plates on the counter.
"Project." I corrected him.
"You almost said mission."
"No, I didn't." I set the pancakes on the plates, but I couldn't make eye contact with him.
"What was your job, again?"
"Art studio, I work at a video game design company." The lie was quick but simple, it was much easier to lie about since I drew a lot in my spare time.
"Stop lying to me, Luna. Or I might have to have my agents figure it out for me." Shoto took a bite out of his pancakes and smiled.
"I'm not lying, I've told you every time you've asked that I make concept art for video games."
"Repeating a lie doesn't make it a truth."
"Shoto-"
"I just want you to be safe, Luna. I know you're probably doing something that could get you in trouble, just be safe and don't you dare do anything to..." Shoto trailed off, not able to make eye contact, "just come back to me, no matter what you do."
"I will, I promise." Hearing Shoto so concerned made me feel bad, so I started eating my pancakes in silence. After a few minutes I heard Shoto get up to take care of his plate. I wasn't sure what he wanted to do for the rest of the night, but we usually just watched a movie or sat on the roof and talked. I shook my wings out and stood up as I finished my pancakes.
"I'll take your plate." Shoto spoke in a low tone, it startled me, "sorry, I'll just-" Shoto paused as he seemed to realize how close we were to each other. My shoulder was almost touching his chest. The tension in the air was hard to breathe through, or maybe it was because my brain was going so fast that it forgot to breathe, I couldn't tell.
"Shoto..." I wasn't sure what I was going to say, but he leaned a bit closer, his hand on the counter and the other hovering near my waist.
"Yes?"
"I-" Shoto's phone rang, breaking the tension for a moment. Shoto took a few steps back to answer the phone and I quickly took care of my plate.
"I can't right now. Yes really- no I'm not making an excuse this is the only day off I've had in months- I don't care how important it is just leave a summary on my desk to read tomorrow. If you need my input that bad you can wait until tomorrow. No I am not going to fly back-" Shoto kept arguing with the person on the other line, looking more stressed by the minute. Shoto pinched the bridge of his nose and looked at me with tired eyes as he tried to calm down. "You don't need me to come in tonight, I am there every other time you can give me today off. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, all you need to know is that I am taking a well earned break from the stress- I don't care what rank hero I am I need a fucking break sometimes too, I'm human as well, or is a number all that matters to you, Endeavor?" Oh that's why he was so pissed. I bit my lip and walked over to Shoto and gently grabbed his hand, and he gave me a small smile in return. "I am allowed to give you whatever attitude I want you big ball of- he hung up." Shoto sighed and threw his phone onto the counter before pulling me into a hug and digging his face into my shoulder.
"It'll be alright, let's go watch a movie, or did you want to stargaze?"
"It's getting too cold to stargaze." Shoto mumbled.
"You can control your body heat, I don't think the cold will be a problem for either of us."
"Mmmm, I don't feel like using my quirk tonight." Shoto held me tighter, as though the thought of using his quirk alone stressed him out.
"Have you been using it a lot?"
"Yes. And with little rest." Shoto whined, which wasn't like him.
"Alright, let's go watch a movie and you can rest." Shoto nodded but didn't let go. "Shoto you need to let go-" Shoto scooped me up, making me yelp in surprise.
"Come on, let's go."
"Shoto put me down-"
"No." Shoto walked out of the kitchen and carried me to the large living room before setting me down on the couch. After grabbing a few blankets and some water bottles out of the fridge behind the mini bar counter that they had in their living room, Shoto came over to the couch, threw the blankets over me, and placed the water bottles on the coffee table. After deciding on a movie, Shoto ended up laying back on my chest, since I had wings, it was usually more difficult to find comfortable cuddling positions.
"Luna?"
"Yeah?" I asked as I played with Shoto's hair, I could feel him falling asleep.
"Be careful around Izuku, he's trying to gather followers, and he's more powerful than we know."
"I will be, I promise." And with that, he fell asleep.
